so i just put my new motor in my 85, i left the stock clutch cause it was new, ive got about 500 on new motor and when i nail the throttle i get a hefty whif of clutch. in 85 i know the discs were 10 inch, clutch has bout 12k on it so im assuming the motor is to much for it.

what clutch would be a better choice for my car

im pushing bout 300 hp and im planning on nitrous

ive been looking at spec and hays but am unsure of what stage and whatnot.

im still running a t5 thats fairly new and heard that some clutches have a vastly negative affect on transmission life.

thanks

The rumors you heard are correct.

running a clutch that transfers more power than a T-5 can handle will most certainly destroy your tranny (With Track launches and hard shifting) You do need an upgrade (probably King Cobra or equivalent) Just make sure that your clutch will let go before your transmission does.

My friend Jesse (mac'n89blckstang) has a spec stage II and has gone through like 3 t-5 trannies. He's always blowing them apart. The spec grabs too damn well.
