I'm dropping a new motor in this weekend, and I've read after initial start up and cool down, it's necessary to retorque the lower intake bolts? Is it essential because I really don't want to if I don't have to. Also, Edelbrocks instructions called for 15-18 ft-lbs, while others books call for around 23 or 24 ft-lbs. So I split the difference and torqued them to 20 ft-lbs, do you guys think this will be alright? What have all you guys done when doing this? Thanks a lot guys.

I would suggest rtorquing unless you use Loctite Blue on the bolts. Took me three good heat cuycles for my lower to hold the 24# torque value. You sure don't want it to be loose anf possibly leak water into the lifter valley.
