well i should have some 12 second slips coming soon!

i've aquired some 26x9.5x15 hoosier slicks :D and i just wanted some advice on running with slicks. the tread is 8" wide and so i'm hoping that and the fact that i have the stock clutch will protect my drivetrain while still alowing me to get some good 60ft times and hopefully get into the 12's

Pull around the water box and back the rear tires in the water (unless you have skinnies up front then drive straight in). Put the car into second gear and dump the clutch. Hold the car at or around 5K and keep it there until you feel the motor starting to bog down. By the time you feel the motor bog there should be plenty of smoke and the tires should be good and hot. Let off of the brakes and roll the car out spinning hard until you are clear of the water box. Just pull up to the lights, don't "bark" or "hop" the tires. I'm not sure of your mods but I would start with a 4K launch. If the tires hold the launch try upping the RPM's by 500 and see what happens.

BTW invest in a driveshaft loop and a set of brute force u-joints. (cheap insurance man)

they will hold up, u will want to break the tires loose a bit if u r running a stock clutch cuz a 5500 rpm launch just dumping the clutch is going to smoke it if u dead hook with the power u r making. a friend of mine blew his clutch at the track on slicks. it was the stock one as well....i say launch at about 4K and lightly slip the clutch just a fraction to get it going thenlet off....with the power ur making i could see a 12 sec pass coming out of that

ya lemme tell ya a lil story.........this is to the extreme but just listen up........

about 5 yrs ago, my dad built a 502ci motor for his chevelle to run on pump gas.....puts out about 625hp to teh wheels and about 650 ft lbs.......anyway, first passs down track when he hits 2nd (auto shifted manually) he hears a knocking sound like no other so he knew somethin was up....so he gets off the gas at 1/2 track and rolls to teh return road where he looks under the car, and teh drveshaft is a pretzel....it shredded in 2 pieces and one of teh peices about a foot long coming outta the rear was spinning in circles....it ripped both of his flows to shreds and made a huge gaping hole in his floor.........the other piece of teh driveshaftwas just chillin in teh safety loop.......

this was one of teh scariest days ever man cause if that piece of driveshaft hadnt have been contained by a loop, the car would have polevaulted, and my pops could have been history :( so PLEASE if ur gonna be using slicks get a $30 driveshaft loop cause it could save your life.....i dont mean so sound like a sissy, but im sure you could relate......its cheap insurance man.......

GOOD LUCK IN THE 12's!!!!!!!!!!!!
