Need advice/ which Supercharger for 347?

Im currently waiting for delivery of my 347 Pro Bullet w/low compression pistons from D.S.S. Its got a Comp Cams XE282HR cam. I am expecting at least 400 hp from this on the motor alone. D.S.S. recommends keeping the Pro Bullet at no more than 550 hp. What supercharger will get me to this point? I have seen the vortech V-1 for like $1800, will this do the job or do I need more boost?
 
im sorry but i cant help you with the supercharger question but can you help me with some questions?

so you got the level 10 block?

did you get the shortblock or the long? if you got the shortblock what else do you need to get it running? (new to this bear w/ me please)

do you know what the compressions going to be?

what heads?

i thought they limited it to around 650hp?

im thinking of building up a 347 as well... looking for 400ish n/a and maybe throw on a wet kit... 100-150shot of juice...wouldnt this put me close to the 550hp limit that you say they have? should i go w/ a lvl 20 block? how much can they handle?

Those Level X blocks make me laugh, but what ever....it's still a stock block and will crack right up the middle like any other stock block.

Now as far as the blower take your pick what brand but I'd go Vortech V1 S-trim or V2 SQ, Paxton Novi 2000, or Procharger P1SC min (they are in no order) with that combo. They will get you to that level and give yourself room to grow down the road. It is better to have a slightly large blower then have a blower that is too small pumping tons of hot air into the motor.

A stock block is a stock block no matter what you do to it.... You can hand relieve and de-burr/stress relieve the enitre block to take away all the stress points away ( I think that is a very good idea, I do it on every motor I build) The screw in freeze plugs do add strength, but don't ever let the block freeze on you or you'll break the block instead of blowing a freeze plug but if your looking at 550HP a stronger block is the way to go, either a DART or Ford Racing Block.
 
Nightlife, I am getting the level 10 block with the Main Girdle and windage tray, oh yeah, its a long block with twisted wedge heads (upgraded springs for up to .600 lift) for the larger cam. They said it will be around 9 to 1 compression. I want to get the Procharger P1sc with the intercooler, but I am just trying to get some input to see if another blower (vortech) might be a good fit also. Seeing that the long block (about $5500delivered) plus $2500 worth of other goodies is putting me at about $8grand, I am looking for a used blower if I can find one.
 
so i should be looking at a DART 302 block... what all do i need (please list everything...) to get it going. 347stroker kit, heads, valves, rockers, etc. what else?

im hoping you can help me here sounds like you've done this before.

thanks man i appreciate that. after reading some stuff on corral.net about the DSS blocks it seems that they wont take to much more power then the stock block... i think i may go now w/ a AD performance Iron Eagle DART 302 short block that "they say" can safely handle 1200+ which is PLENTY for me...

that block w/ the Scat 4340 Crankshaft, Scat H-Beam Rod, Probe Forged Piston, Wrist Pins, and ARP Rod Bolts. should be pretty damn tough im thinking... afr 185 or TW's.... not sure yet.

OT: whats your goals for your engine? what do you plan on running?

my goals are to run mid to low 12's n/a and throw on the juice for mid to low 11's.... 400ish n/a and anywhere from 500-550 on the juice at the track.
 
I am also ordering a block from DSS only I'm getting the 331 short block. I was wondering, not to jack the post, if you would know what kind of mods would go well with that. heads, cam, intake, exhaust, fuel system, and anything else you need to build up a new engine. any help would be appreciated.
 
Right now Im thinking about the aeromotive a1000 pump and their bypass regulator, I have a Holley 750 DP which I am going to send out for modifications to make it a blow through carb.



How about some opinions on which blower would work well?

how long do you think that will last mileage wise?

are you running the stock T5?

fuel system?

what blow throguh maf are you using and where did you get it?
