I know Valeo makes the FRPP stuff- they don't make McCloud that I know of. The KC and the HD are both by the same company, and both are known to grab at the same point, just not the same pedal pressure or holding power. One PP may be stronger than the other, but they were still designed to operate the same - it logically follows that they would interchange. I know the MC disc has two different materials- remember, I did use it. I don't see how that makes any difference though. I'm surprised you've never heard this, I thought it was common knowledge. I've been hearing it my whole life, and it was repeated to me by tech's from almost every clutch company I talked to. The TTC CS guy was the one who flipped, which really got my attention. And, what they all said turned out to look very true when I pulled it apart: the KC pressure plate was way flatter than the SPEC one that replaced it, and I remember that it was also flatter than the CF one that came out first. They are thinner, and the FRPP disc is too. Put a fatter disc in there than it came with, and what's gonna happen? There just isn't enough room to disengage, and my MC kev disc was so bulletproof that instead of wearing down it pooped the KC PP. This mickeymouse combo was installed better part of two years ago though, designs may have changed. Thats why I want an update. Mine basically shifted like a truck, and never felt like it broke in until I put the SPEC in, despite trying every linkage adjustment kit out there and having two ASE master techs beating their heads against it with me. D&D does know their stuff though, so something must be different. Good luckGrn92LX said:Actually, valeo makes all that stuff so essentially its the same brand. If d&d sells it, its definatly good! It should all be done tomorrow so I will report back if it is. Also, what tremec said was a clear case of them trying to cover their ass for warranty claims man. I have NEVER once in my life heard what they told you. The mcleod disk has different material on both sides. If what tremec said was true (which its not) how can ford sell a king cobra clutch and a fms HD clutch? Different pp's and SAME disk![]()

stangbear427 said:Sounds like it was engineered to work together then. It definately doesn't sound like what I had, mine didn't say Valeo anywhere, just McLoud. Even had the clover embossed on it somewhere, if I remember right. A lot can change in two years I guess. The one I had was so obviously mismatched when we took it out that there wasn't any doubt, although it looked fine going in. I'm sure they have more than one disc too though, mine coulda been wrong![]()
stangbear427 said:Changed your tranny fluid lately? I'm not suggesting it has anything to do with that, but I do wonder what the state of your internals are- how hot the tranny is and what the burning smell may be coming from. Odd... is it making any noises? Clunks, grinds, etc- or did it ever before this problem started? Has 3rd always felt weaker than 4th in there, or did it come up more recently- maybe along with the other symptoms?

haha hydrolic clutches. Not in and of itself. Everything you've said points to slipping, except the slow revs.5spd GT said:Basically I'm just asking can a clutch slow you down and not slip...
So its been doing this ever since the H/C/I install, like, to the day? Have you talked to Ed about it? On a T5 the gear ratios seem to make a bigger jump from 2nd to 3rd than from 1st to 2nd or from 3rd to 4th, which has led to many complaints I've heard that 3rd gear is too high. I'd tend to agree, all my T5's over the years felt that way, and my TKO does too. Nothing as extreme as you're describing though, and those slow revs are really throwing me off. Sounds like you need to post your own thread on this problem and try to get some other attention to it.stangbear427 said:Not in and of itself.
