I just switched from a performer RPM intake to a new Victor Jr. intake and my ET and MPH dropped off. Best time with the Performer RPM was 7.58 at 92 MPH and the new combo is 7.80 at 89 mph. I have a "quick fuel" 850 w/vac sec carb. (Yes the sec. are opening up fully.) I started out with 80/88 Jets but the plugs show to be very lean. I am now at 90/96 and they still seem a little lean. The car does not feel faster and I am at a loss for this change taking me in the wrong direction. What are you guys running with your 427 strokers?

It is very hard for me to believe that you have encountered a problem. I aways ran a 750 dbl pump on 400cubic + small blocks and never had a problem. Are your secondaries opening soon enough? Maybe a vacum leak?

DHearne said exactly what I was going to. You will have picked up some time in the 1/4. Im not that surprised you lost some in the 1/8th. You probably will have to spin that engine a little high too now.

The car idles good and runs smooth thoughout the RPM range. I shift at 6K during my run. The car lacked power at the end of the run, hence the change to the vic. jr. I noticed when Mustangs and Fast Fords did their story on high flow cylinder heads they ran a 1000+ cfm carb. I have AFR 225's which flows volumes of air. The rear end is a four pinion "Currie" unit that is too small for the power I am putting to it, but it is hanging in there so far. The 9 X 24 slicks help relieve the strain some what since my 60 foot times are only 1.70. I am at a loss for increasing the jets to 86/94 to get rid of the lean condition? I have not ran since this change.
