Need Help on V8 Conversion

front:
kmember
mounts
87-93 5.0 brake hardware (spindles, rotors, basic updated 4-lug)
rear:
8.8 rearend (get a 87 t-bird turbo auto rear end)
drivetrain and someone else will chime in and fix this...

wiring harness(if staying EFI)
eec(also for EFI)

easiest swap to do is to a carbed v8....

If I go with the carbed V8, what do I do about the emissions? Will I have anything to worry about? Can I get it to pass emissions inspection with the carbed engine? I would like to go that way but just want to make sure. Thanks for the input. Please I need more. Want to do this right.

I recommed going carbed.....the only problem is with emmisions. I have a friend that can get me a sticker. I would make a friend like that for yourself. In MA the standards are so high, a lot of EFI cars are failing.
I am doing an 87 notch 4 cy/5speed V8 swap myself. I am finding that its a very tough route to go. You need to find a lot of hard to find parts and you will find yourself banging your head when are stuck waiting on parts. Thats where i am. I am tracking down spindles right now...and i am finding no junk 5 Liters around here. I am almost past all the upgrades now...so it should be pretty straightforward and universal from here on out. I recommend starting a drinking habit...it seems to soften the blow of getting pissed and throwing wrenches at it!
Any questions ask away.

Can you give me a good start out list of the parts I need to find. I have 2 friends that work for Ford as service writers. Emmisions is only done by the state in Maryland. there is no sticker you can just get. it eather passes or fails. but you only have to get it done 1 every 2 years. Please give me a start out list so that I can get started.

Thanks,

I'm looking to swap 4 to 8, but I'm staying with EFI. here's what you would need.

Must have's

1. small canister (passenger fender)
2. V-8 thottle cable and bracket
3. V-8 EFI wire harness
4. V-8 ECU
5. V-8 map sensor
6. Vacuum distributor (found next to MAP)
7. V-8 tach
8. v-8 fuel lines

Other things
1. V-8 springs
2. V-8 brakes
3. bigger front, and rear sway bars
4. 8.8 rear axle

brake lines swaped to drivers side

I found the deal of a life time. I found a complete 91 gt mustang as a parts car with no title. What a pretty thing. I now have every part that I need without having to buy one thing at a time. The car was only $1300. What a price. I am going to pick it up next weekend. Body is in great shape.

Please keep helping. If anyone has a good place to start this conversion please do so. I do not know were to start now. The front or the back.

Good news. My first car i bought fell through in FL. The girl I bought the parts car was about to do the converison also and I did not even know it. She had a 89 lx coupe as well and now I am getting both cars from her. Man what a deal. $1700 for both cars. Thanks for all the help everything is very important to me.

Is there anything that I should look out for?

Thanks,

Mike
