Hi guys,

This is not a mustang question, it is about my 94 Ford Explore. It has a V6 in it. I am in the process of changing the thermostat. I thought it was stuck open, because the temperature never went up. Anyways, arent all thermostats supposed to be installed with the spring side towards the engine (away from the radiator), and the little nipple part in the radiator hose? When I took it apart, it was the other way around ! I'm thinking theres still coolant in the block, but god only knows how old it is. Also, after driving the car, theres never any coolant in the overflow jug.

I think that the coolant isn't flowing anywhere, its just staying in the block...

Your correct, the spring side of the t-stat faces toward the rear of the car. I'd replace the t-stat and o-ring and put it back together and see what happens. Make sure and let it run for a while to purge all the air out of it. My 94 Exploder was running cold too, new t-stat fixed mine. Good luck

Ok, all is good, I checked the papers on the car, and there was a complete flush done at a jiffy lube a few years ago. SO i'm guessing that the people there put the t-stat in the wrong way when they put it back together. All is good...except for one thing, i flushed the overflow jug with water, but its still full with water, and I filled radiator with coolant already. Will having all that water in the overflow jug do anything?

If the radiator and overflow are both full, the overflow bottle will most likely overflow once the engine gets hot. You can just pull the hose off the nipple by the radiator cap and drain some water out of the overflow that way.
