I'm purchasing a set of weld draglites for my car 15x8's, and I'd like to mount some BFG drag radials. What would be the best tire size for me to use?

These are the available sizes for a 15 inch rim:
P235/60R-15
P275/50R-15
P275/60R-15
P295/65R-15

My car is lowered, but I can raise the rear end if needed with my coilovers. The weld wheels also come with a set of spacers, but I am unsure of the exact backspacing. Basically which tire size I really can't go wrong with? Thanks!

i ma not sure about your traction problems..but the 275/50/15's willl be the closest to the actual size of ur stock rims as far as tire diameter. they should give u good traction, and will fit in the wheel well nice you shouldnt have any clkearance modifications, plus with your gears i wouldnt go with a tire that is too tall.

As Mac-Man said, you need to watch the height of the tire you use. Stock tires are 25.7" diameter. The 275/60 is 28", and the 295/65 is 29.6. Both of those would make your 3.73's feel more like 3.27's or worse. The 275/50 and 235/60 are both 26.1, which will make the gears feel closer to 3.55's, but that's not too bad.

A 15X8 Weld with 5.5" of backspacing should fit fine, lowered or not. I run 15X10's with 6.5" backspacing with regular 295/50/15's all the time, and rubbing is no issue for me.

You mentioned spacers. You do know, you never want to use the spacers on the rear if you can help it, right? On the front is one thing, but there's a lot more stress on the rear when you're launching...

Hope this helps,

Jerry

Thanks for the very crucial information! I almost ended up ordering the 275/60/15's, and that would have been way too tall of a tire. Turns out that BFGoodrich discontinued the 275/50/15's and being that I dont want to go as narrow as a 235, I opted to go with Nitto NT555R's in 275/50/15's.

Actually, BFG didn't discontinue their 275/50-15 DR's. They just quit making the BFG Comp T/A Drag Radial. I just had my tire guy at Discount Tire troubleshoot this issue for me last week. He called Michelin's corporate office (they own BFG) to find me some DR's. It turns out that they now only make the BFG Geforce T/A Drag Radial. It's the same exact tire as the Comp DR, just with a new name stamped on the sidewall. I have a pair of 275/50-15's mounted on the rear of my car right now. I got them mounted and balanced for $145.00 each.
