need info on savannah, GA and surrounding area.

Me and my girlfirend are thinking of moving down south after she is done with school, and one of the areas we are looking at is savannah,ga and surrounding area. basicly I am wondering whats it like down there, and where are the good places to live.

I'm on the west side of Georgia near Columbus. There's a good dragstrip in Reynolds up this way and lots of motorsport activities all around Atlanta.

Savannah is nice. The downsides have been mentioned. South of the "fall line" (ancient coastline where highway 80 is located now) are where the bugs are.

The town of Brunswick is a cheap place to live and is near Savannah and St. Simon's Island. St. Simon's is a beautiful island with a nice climate but you'll need a couple of hundred grand for an entry level condo.

brunswick and the golden isle(st simons, jekyll, seal island) are overrated i live here with the exception being jekyll although there is an 1/8mile drag strip in jax! there is really nothing to do in brunswick area theres no where to go i live in the historic district and people are so snobish i guess because they moved in next to me i shouldnt have a car with flows or something they look at u strange? and are high and mighty but ill knock them off there pedstal before to long im goona be mayor just wait!!!!

The DNR

seems to be pretty cool - just have paperwork ready and don't do stupid stuff on the water. Ga has the 0 tollerance deal anyway. This is a party/tourist area. There's a package store on every corner. I went to Hilton Head saturday - the traffic is terrible and everyone is trying to out-do the next guy. Damn developers are trying to turn everything into the florida-type resorts.
