Need input on a 400hp 351W

I am selling my motorcycle to free up some fundage for the stang. I have a 67 with a 289 and C4.

I'm thinking about picking up one of these turn-key engines from FordCobraEngines.com (http://www.fordcobraengines.com/351W_400Carb.htm)

Does this engine look like it's worth the price and are you buying the supposed HP output?

That's a loaded question right thar! It doesn't look like a bad deal, but I'm not a fan of mail order engines. I've had friends w/bad experiences more than good, but that's me. I'd *imagine* if you follow their recomendations it should be fine and not have a problem lasting.
How do you plan to use the car?

I'm thinking mostly street cruizing with some trips to the drags...

I was also thinking I could build it myself and use their specs and parts as a build sheet...

I've never built or bought a crate engine before, just to give a little background.

400fwhp from a 351W is easy to get. If you do so through the use of aftermarket aluminum heads you can run a (relatively) mild cam (225-230 dur and 0.5 lift) and have it idle like a kitten.

I am a huge fan of the big windsor, stroke it out to 408 if you want more cubes (427 is pushing it too much IMO), they are natural torque makers, the only real drawback to the design is the oversized journals. They make for an extremely strong bottom end, but they don't like to rev like the RPM-hungry 289. But my 351W should make about 425 at the flywheel, run on 87 octane, get almost 20 mpg (in overdrive), and still weigh about the same as the 289 it replaced. What's not to love?

EDIT: I bought the shortblock balanced and blueprinted from DSSRacing (www.dssracing.com), it is a "Pro-Bullet" model.

I vote for DSS as well. Although mine is still waiting to go in, they were real good in the customer service department, answered all my questions, and built the motor in a reasonable time frame.
I went with their 331 stroker.

You will have trouble making more than 350hp and 400tq using factory heads - even GT40Ps, and cam like 224/232 duration (reasonable street cam). If you use aftermarket heads, 400hp will be a snap, with tons of torque. I would do it in a heartbeat with a 67-up car 'cause they have planty of engine bay.
