Need new shocks and possibly gonna lower......

I got a 95 cobra and all the suspension is original and is gettin a little tired I think. I use it as a daily driver and go to the dragstrip much more than twisties but kinda want the best for both worlds without lowering the car too much and sacraficing ride and straight line. Any suggestions on what shocks and springs to purchase? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

I was once at your position and kinda "rushed" into it. I got the tokico strut, shock, spring kit which is GREAT! It handles like a dream on the street. But i dont think its that good for the strip.

If i could go back, i would save another month or two and buy a coil over setup. That gives you the best of both worlds.

Or for a little cheaper, i would buy a set of strange adjustable struts and find some good springs(4-cylinder fox body maybe?) to go with them. That will give you a good taste of both worlds with emphasis on drag.

My point is that go for the adjustable stuff. It costs a little more but is MORE than worth it in the end.
That kit looks pretty sweet but is that like a conversion kit for a mach1/bullit suspension that just fits on our cars? Also are bilsteins worth the money or are tockicos and kyb shocks and struts just as good or better?
The kit is actually a Ford Racing Performance Part ( FRPP# FMS-M-5400-A) for $482.39. Says it for 94-04 stangs.

I heard Bilsteins are worth the money. The Tokico are very good. I have non adj Blues but they also have the adj. I heard KYB's are not worth the money.

so I take it the ford racing kit is more or less a mach 1 factory replacement kit... it looks nice but I dunno how they handle and if thats really what I want. So it sounds like tockico or bilstiens I dunno what kinda springs really any suggestions? thanks for all the input.

I have a set of 94-04 Tokico 5 way adjustible shocks brand new in the box never even opend. PM me for details if your interested. Retail they go for over $500. I'll give you a hell of a deal on them just so I can get rid of them.

i have bilsteins all around and bbk specific springs, they are definitly oriented for the curves, but i got a 2.02 60ft with regular nittos at the strip with that setup. i absolutly love the setup.
Yeah that sounds like a nice set up. Beautiful car by the way :nice: I wanted black :( but the white has grown on me.
thanks alot. ha, i originally wanted white, but a cobra's a cobra, and now 4 of 5 cars(and bike) i got are black.

yeah, the adjustables can give you the edge for both worlds. even if you get regular shocks out back, the adj. struts up front can help give you that weight tranfer at the strip. i live in RI and the closest strip is in NH and then NY, so i don't hit the strip alot, otherwise i'd probably go with the strange's maybe.

i have the eibach drag springs on my 88 LX, and i think they are pretty streetable, more so than others out there, so i wouldn't count them out either.
Yeah that would look goofy unless you want that old school jacked up in the rear look haha. My dad says that was the popular thing to do in the 70's
lol i dont think it would raise it...if anything it would be the same height. Maybe a hair lower due to the bigger gas tank or something
