So the tail lights on my 95 Cobra are getting a little faded. There is some debate on how difficult it might be to repaint the housings.

Is there a company that sells new horizontal bar tail lights in factory colors? I'd pay anything to get a new set of Rio Red horizontals.

If not, what aftermarket tail lights look decent on a red car? I dont care for the clear altezza look. I think the red lenses blending into red paint is a clean look.

Any ideas with or without pics?

repaint the housings... its really not THAT hard... mask off the lenses first and spray away, couple of coats... u can even use the VHT night shades on the lenses...

Thanks for the link Blackvert, hopefully he has Rio Red.

I got an estimate from my local body shop of $360. I'm not sure what the breakdown is of labor vs. materials. This might use 1 oz. of paint.

Painting still doesn't help the cloudy plastic lense material. I masked the lense and used PlastX with a Powerball. It helped a lot but its not as clear as it should be.

mine were cloudy... i just tinted them, and now u DEFINITELY cant tell... altho mine werent originally bad, they were just very faded as well as the green around the tail lights...

heres a before shot when i started to mask them off... what we did was masked off the entire trim, did the lenses first, then masked the lenses and sprayed the outside...

you get the idea...

If the paint is still good and you don't want to do a repaint.Tape them up and wet sand them 800,1500, and then 2000.Polish them with a buffer and your choice of polish{I heard that a power ball will work also} and give them a good coat of wax.
Thats how I did mine. They looked new other then the paint.

There was a company making reproduction 94-95 tail lights. They came all red and you simply had to mask and paint them. I almost bought a set on ebay a few months ago, I haven't looked in a while but I'd imagine they are still around.

Since my last 2 SN95's were both 4.6, i always liked the 96-98 tails more. I never liked the 94-95's, but they grew on me since I bought my 95. Im unsure if i wanna convert to the 96-98's, or paint my verticals black or repaint them yellow???
