Need opinions on aftermarket seats

Hello gents,

Was wondering if I could start a thread to get opinion on aftermarket seats. I am looking for a reclinable sport type high or mid back seat that would not only be confortable and nice looking in my 68 fastback but would also fit my oversized 6'6", 245 lbs frame. I would love to buy some Scat Rally seats but feel like they are a little confining for me. I also like the Flofit sports but have never sat in them and know nothing about them. I have seen a few pics of them and they look quite nice, but that is the extent of my experience with them. I like the Corbeau and Recaro seats but something is steering me away. Before I forget I am looking for a set of black leather seats

Any suggestions/recommendations are welcomed.... Please include pics or links if you can.

You sound like a good candidate for using latemodel Mustang seats. Bullitt seats are my personal (and expensive) favorite.

That said, you mentioned you liked the Corbeaus and Recaros, so here's a little writeup of what it took to put modern racing style seats in my 66. I personally love how they look, but as with anything different, some opinions vary. What was important to me was the lateral G factor. These seats actually hold me in one place, and at 6' 3", 235, fit quite well.

I like, but I think I will face the same issues as with the Corbeaus I tried before (wide version).... CRAMMED in the shoulder!!!! Kind of felt unconfortable, or should I say slightly claustrophobic. Think ex-football player shoulder width.

This is why I was looking at the Scat and Flofit or any matching the style (i.e. no real shoulder restriction). As you can see from the pics below they both offer lateral bolsters but the SCAT is way more aggressive in the thighs making it less than confortable for long journeys. The Flofit has the option of putting a lumbar bladder (support) and has major adjustability. Just never sat in a set and would like feedback or recommendations.

Like blake said you should look into late model mustang seats. You can get them cheap enough and they really dont have any shoulder restrection. I am not as tall as you but I have very broad shoulders and I like the way they fit me. Plus they go in very easy. Mine came from a 00 and I think I paid like 200 for the pair. If you would like I could snap some pict.

These came out of a 2002 Mustang and are installed in my '65. They're comfortable and match the stock interior reasonably well - they don't look out of place. Paid $400 for the pair in very nice shape, although you may be able to do better with a little searching...

Thinking on a budget, has anyone any experience of those circa $200 seats from Summit?

great seats!

i'm in a 67coupe 6'2" @ 235... i had to lower my seat pan 2" to make these work in my ride. my hair was hitting the headliner before lowering the seat pan:rlaugh:

i go to the track now with my helmet on and i fit perfect:D

Have you looked at the SCAT Procar Elites instead of the Rallys? That's what I have in my '67 fastback. I reviewed them here:

reenmachine do you know if those elites can be bought to match factory colors like the Flofits? Ive got red pony seats.. to date Flofits all Ive seen that'll match, and theyre expensive. Id be satisfied with a real close color without the pony decor, I just cant do black.

The only red in the pack of swatches they sent me is cloth. It's kind of a bright red. Perhaps I don't have the complete selection, so I'd recommend calling them.

Now that's what I am talking about....REVIEWS.... Thanks a bunch!!!! In my attempts to cover all grounds I missed the fact that SCAT has other seats.

For those of you who have been thinking about the FloFit, here is a website I found that may dampen your spirits... as it did mine.
