Need quick opinion on Pro-M mass air

75mm calibrated for 30lb injectors, polished for around 60 bucks.
14k miles on it. Think thats worth it? I haven't heard a ton about pro-m stuff

I have a chrome 75mm Pro-M calibrated for my 30lb injectors and it runs fine...a bit rich but that is expected at idle...

Make sure you have 30lb injectors with it...what "major" mods do you got?

I have a mac fenderwell cold air intake, cobra upper and lower with manifold spacer, I'm fairly sure either a b or e cam (put in before I bought it), shorties with off-road h-pipe, no smog, no cats

Was going to buy it now and save it for when I get my 255 in tank and 30lb injectors, as well as matching TB

Unless you got some other mods...like a supercharger or a Nice H/C/I setup...the 30lb injectors will be way to big for your car...keep your 19lb injectors and don't buy that Pro-M MAF...

It was more a question of quality. I'm curious as to the reputation of pro-m mass air meters since I'm saving parts for my end combo, not so much for the current setup.

They are a very good product. One of the best out there. I am purchasing one soon to go with my not yet installed 24lb injectors.

Very happy with mine. Runs pretty damn good with 36lb injectors on motor...

The piece that gets missed most often - especially with used maf's - is that the calibration of a unit doesn't just pertain to the size injectors it's matched to. Forced air (boost) vs. naturally aspirated; stock box vs. hanging a filter off the end vs. a cold air set up with filter in the fenderwell (elbow before the maf) -- all these different configurations have different calibrations. Even for the same size injectors. So if you're gonna buy used, you really need to know what inlet configuration ProM calibrated the meter for. Not how the previous owner used it - but what ProM calibrated it for. A lot of people think the meters are simply transferable as long as the injector size is the same - and that's simply not the case. Many drivability and idle quality issues can be traced to calibration discrepancies that have nothing to do with injector size.

Like others have said, I'd go with a smaller injector. Ideally, when you get the maf, get the seller to provide ProM's calibration sheet that has the 9-point voltage/flow transfer function data on it. You can use that when contacting ProM to confirm exactly what injector size and air inlet configuration your used unit was set up for. Personal opinion - this is one area where it's worth spending a few dollars more to be certain you get exactly what your set up calls for directly from ProM.

Also, I have been in the game a long time and rue the day that somebody "hasn't really heard much of Pro-m." Either I am getting really old or we need to help our newbie bretheren here. Pro-flo technologies is THE leading manufacturer of mass air meters and related products for the Ford family. Unfortunately, many go the C&L route because they are a little cheaper, but can no way be as accurate as the pro-m stuff.

With pro-m, you get a calibration, not little metal tubes to put the factory sensor into. Sure, the car might run fine with the C&L meter, but is it running better? How is the idle? Many times the idle quality of C&L meters leaves something to be desired. When my brother got one for his 2000 GT, a call to their tech department had me playing rotate the meter for a week to try and stabilize the idle. Finally took it off and put a Lightning meter on there with the Procharger install.

I like the Pro-M as well. I have an 80 MM plastic unit. In my experiences with them over the years the 80 MM plastic unit has been the best thus far. Great drivability and best all around performance.

Wow, thanks a ton guys. I appreciate all the info. I didn't get the unit, but I now have a lot more to consider in terms of calibration and such as per Micheal Younts comments.

johnf your not old, I'm just a bit new to mustangs (only had mine since November) and before that I had an 88 chevy corsica so not much performance possibilities on a 2.8L v6.

This board has taught me quite a bit so far, as this post demonstrates with me learning something new yet again. Not so simple as a buy and bolt-on as I had originally thought. Thanks again

You will go far with that attitude young man. And, you will do it much faster than the 5.0 owners who bolt parts on just for the sake of new "parts." If I see another stock headed, stock cammed engine with 24 Lb. injectors and a 70MM throttle body, I am gonna choke somebody. There are and I have owned many faster vehicles than the poorly concieved and thrown together combos that I would say a majority of stang owners who modify posess. that is the only way to explain all of the "cammed" 24lb injector cars that I wasted with a stock 93 cammed, 1.7 rocker, slightly ported E7 headed combo.
