I am looking for a newer car, and I found a 1999 Mustang GT, silver, black leather interior, has some stuff done to it, 4.10 gears, basanni X, flowmasters, air intake, subframe connectors, steeda ultra light wheels. Has 49,500 miles, and he said he "needs" 11,250. Well, KBB says the car retails 10,250 in excellent condition so he's a little off on my scale. He said it has a newer transmission because Ford did a recall on them because they wouldn't go in reverse? He said he has all the receipts and stuff, and he is the second owner, he said the guy before him was an accountant and always kept track of everything, so everything done has been documented. He said it's had Mobil 1 synthetic always ran through it, and blah blah. So what do you guys think?

I did a price quote from NADA and came up with a trade in value of 9,175 and a retail sale value of 11,150 for a coupe. Trade in on a 'vert was 11,175 and retail 13,375. That's for my state though.

I was told by a friend of mine who is a car salesman to use the #'s from NADA over the KBB #'s. That's what most car dealers use. Check it out for yourself for your area http://www.nadaguides.com/

Hope I helped.

If its in top shape then offer 10,700, if he wont take that then keep lookin :nice:

Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming. It's a coupe. I know for sure I'm not going to give him over 11, he told me he knows book says 11 on it, but he's got a lot done to it.

Yes the price is a little steep, but think about it its already got most of the stuff done to it you probably want. The cheapest you will probably find one 99-up will usually be around 10 grand. I would offer 11 grand and tell him to fill the gas tank full. IMO

I paid 9,500 for my 99 gt 5spd coupe a year ago. It had 38k miles, no leather, no traction control, no mach system, no mods, and needed tires. the guy was asking 10k. Also are the rims 17" or 18", the 18's are worth a bit more, and how do the tires look? 18" tires will run you at least a thousand dollars.

No, they're 17's. He said that there is still quite a bit of tread on them cause he doesn't "burn them off". If I do get it, I'm gonna get the black honey comb back piece, v6 trunk lid, 01 head lights, gt badges... then I'll probably get some different wheels.
