I've got a 66 fb that is overpowering my t5 tranny. I want to upgrade to a g-force (as a tremec requires rasing the tunnel and other unpleasantness). Does anyone know of a shop in The So CA area (Central and Northern CA are options as well) that does G-force transmissions????? Any help would be appreciated.

no unpleasantries with tremec, I don't understand?? get the 3550 with a new bell and it's plug and play.

If you're looking for someone to install, I'm hard up for cash, and may do it for a couple hundred or so if you want.

Hi v8 only. Amazing, everyone else I've talked to and the things I've seen on the net have implied a little more work than that. One good write up was found at:
http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/Pages/Tremec.html

Now, I'm not too mechanically inclined, but I'd like to know what you think of this article? Also do you think a TKO 500 would also be plug and play as that would likely hold together nicely with future mods planned. Feel free to send me e mail or post. I likely wouldn't be adversed to you doing work for an agreed upon sum, if we can work everything out.

Thanks

I was about to call this guy an idiot until I read this:

March 2003
After several measurements and trial installations. I could not fit the Tremec into my 65 Mustang without altering the transmission tunnel. At this point I had to decide how I was going to take on the task. I have never done sheet metal work and didn't even know where to start! So I jumped in head first and cut out the floor.

He's installing this into a 65 mustang, not a fox body.

it's plug and play with the fox's, the only mod you've got to do to the cars is to cut the spot welds off the stock crossmember, very simple.

the tko's are easy too, you just have to put a different yoke onto your driveshaft end, and use a different clutch disc.

Putting a tremec into a mustang honestly is no more work than doing a straight up clutch job on a t5.

email me at v8only@yahoo.com if you want to talk about it.

V8, the very first line of the first post says I have a 66 fb (fast back) SAME SAME... Not so much plug and play. But thanks for the interest and input!

Now it's my bad for not knowing how to read....so sorry!!! I'd be crazy to attempt something like that on your 66.

Why don't you look into a g force?? don't the t5's go into those cars without mods??
