Not to hijack the thread, but I was looking at your times hotmustang331. I just got Patriot heads (stage 2) and patriot stage 2 cams. I have ud pulleys, full exhaust and 3.73's. I am being told I should get around 320 RWHP. Should I expect 12.5's?
I have been giving this decision a lot of thought and need your guys opinions to help me out. Tell me if my reasoning is correct here...
I was thinking at first to go with all the bolt ons (headers,plenum,TB,CAI,Xcal2 tune) which would cost me about $1500 or so. I definately want to go SC in the future, how soon would depend on how quick i save up. So i was ready to drop all this cash next month for bolt ons to tie me over.
BUT.. then i started thinking, the max the stock internals can handle safely is around 385-390 rwhp with a good tune. I should easily be able to get that with just a SC, right? Whether or not i do all bolt ons first. So whats the benefit of bolt ons when a SC can be boosted to give me the max power my engine can handle. So now I am thinking that save that $1500 from bolt ons and wait till this summer and just go SC'd. Maybe i can even find a deal on a decent used SC and get it sooner. Whats the point of having bolt ons if i am limiting my self to the boost of the SC since it might blow my engine.
Am i correct with this idea of thinking?
BTW i already have catback, x pipe, under drive pulleys. So at least stuff is flowing somewhat more free than stock which should help the SC be more effecient.
It depends on how much money you have man. If you want to achieve 350WHP all N/A your going to spend a sh1t load of money, but you might want to go that route to show up all the blown people. On the other hand, you can get blown for around 4 grand and pull 370-400WHP. All in all, superchargering a car is a cheap way to gain HP compared to going the NA route. If I had the money, I'd go the NA route because not too many people do that. But I'm broke so I plan on a supercharger. You may want to think about nitrous as well. Spraying can be awesome if all the safety precautions are done.
Im doing it the opposite way, im going to drop a pretty penny on stage II heads, some nice cams, and longtubes to complete my exhaust (good starting point N/A hp wise before the blower) Then when Im ready to get blown, Im swapping out the cams for blower cams and slappin on a KB.
