I kept hearing stories about a fox Saleen running around with a cage and lots of paint chips. I finally chased the guy down and got the scoop on it. It is a Popular Mechanics/Saleen sponsored car that was raced in the 80's or 90's, the guy still has a copy of the magazine that the car was in. I e-mailed PM and got the guy that drove it,

That's probably the car we raced back in the early '90s in SCCA and IMSA
professional endurance races. I crashed it at the 24 hours at Mosport.

When we folded up our racing team the car was acquired by one of the
mechanics. I've lost touch with him over the years, but he lived near Akron
at the time. It may have changed hands.

Thought that you Saleen guys would appreciate this.

these pictures were taken about three years ago, ive seen the car once time after this. not even sure if the same guy owns it.

Neat stuff!

Maybe 5 or so years ago this was on Ebay. I think it was a GT, turn LX, turn Saleen equipped.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Wild intake? Is that special or was it used on another Ford product?

i think thats at lest its the upper off of a 351 truck motor. it was all old school, as you can see he took the race seats out of it and put the stockers back in ( they were practicly new) and removed the fire supp. sys. out of the cage. other than that i think its like it was when it was raced.

looks like a MM STB, and if that's a 351 intake, why does it say 5.0 HO on it? Did saleen steal the casting and mate it to the 302?

Looks molded in to me, like the one on my old GT40 intake. I don't see allen bolts like on a stock 5.0 HO intake.
