Need an engine rebuild. Help me build my motor.

My stock 86 shortblock is on it’s last legs. It has 136,000 on it and the compression test per cylinder is 70 psi. I am wondering what I should do. I can get a block for a good price and am thinking of getting a stroker kit. What do I need to have this ready for the crank, rods, bearings etc. I know I have to bring this to a machine shop to make sure everything looks good. What kind of rings and bearings should I get? I do not drag race. I mainly drive it on the street, and occasionally autocross it.

What budget do you have. You can get a shortblock from companies like DSS for about $1500 with forged pistions. You can get a new/rebuilt hyper piston shortblock for arround $1200. Maby even get a used one in good condition. Keep your eyes and ears open. A stroker or anything "fancy" will greatly increase the costs.
