New best times!!! w/ new gear

Well looks like the new gear(3.80 trak loc) paid off. Went last night to Atlanta Dragway w/ Vinyl66 and we both got new best times. I won't steal his thunder here though. Here are my best 3 out of 5 runs. Temps were great low 70's upper 60's. My preivous best w/ the old 3.55 wonder wheel was
14.44 @ 97.2

Run 1
r/t .055
60' 2.277
330 6.188
1/8 9.354
mph 78.27
1000 12.080
1/4 14.379
mph 98.03

Run 2
r/t .161
60' 2.215
330 6.093
1/8 9.266
mph 78.05
1/4 14.305
mph 97.81

Run3
r/t -.008 ( i race vinyl66 this race and we both cut the exact
same -.008 r/t , that's weird)
60' 2.207
330 6.052
1/8 9.199
mph 78.28
1000 11.917
1/4 14.208
mph 98.43

It was a great night, every pass i made was better than the last. I think the cooler temps helped as well. I still need to work on my 60' times though. I'm running bfg 215/60/14's drag radials. These were my best 60's some far but feel i should be able to get 2.0's....or better w/ the drag radials , the seat time last night for sure helped i was not bogging much at all off the line and tried to go by feel rather than just watching the tach. I tried to cut better lights as well this time and feel i did much better as my worst r/t was .161. I still have stock 289 heads(1.78/1.45 valves). I'm hoping to break 13's w/ these before i put on the 165 AFR's I have. Also havn't put on my Ram Air yet. All in it was a blast the little 289 put down 2 late model Mustang GT's, a Civic and a Nissan 240. Then got smoked by Vinyl66 my last and best run( Good job Rodney).....Anyone have in advice on how to improve my 60's. I was launching at around 3500-4500 rpm and riding clutch very little. i tried to floor it as soon as thrid yellow came on. I don't think i had much if any wheel spin so i sure i havn't gotten to the limits w/ the small bfg's. This is w/a 4sp.... :D

You could try leaving at slightly more than idle . . .

A friend of mine is getting 1.98-1.99s on 285/35/18 sumitomos with 300rwhp/360rwtq and a t5. So there is much MUCH more to be had with drag radials. Unfortunetly, you have to play with not only the tire but the driver in a stick situation. :(
