No thank you. I take pride in the fact that the new cars are copying MY car. I'll stick with my originals

I wonder how big they are??

Ever see the running pony emblems on the new stangs? They are HUGE. Hell, even the GT500 snake is prob the size of a real snake.

I just hope the new 5.0's are not 2x the size of the original 5.0's.

I still wanna buy a set and paint them with black transluscent paint for a "black chrome" effect

Hell yeah! Im with this guy.

Anyone else find it odd that the 2011 GT is a brand new car that looks like a car from the 60s with marketting for its engine from the 80s?

And Dodge marketing it's modern engine line up in modern vehicles after an engine line describing the shape of the combustion chamber isn't weird in itself?

Well, I bet there will be some turn around where the 11' will be putting on some 5.0 badges from our cars.

Yeah.... I know what you mean about the oversized badges.... like the one's on the Ford Trucks..WTF???

I have 5.0 badges on my house!!!

No really though, that "5.0" badge symbolizes much more than just the engine size. It symbolizes a message that "power is back and better than ever" marks a chapter in the Mustang's heritage, the benchmark on which perfromance was measured, and a brief time where Ford ruled. Also, got law enforcement a new name "Five-oh". Yes, that "five point oh" badge means a lot.

Ford made a stupid mistake going to the 4.6, they lost confidence with the people, lost face as the Japaneese would say. They should have kept it 5.0L even when they went modular, like they finally caught back on, just took them 15 years.

This is just a guess but i'm pretty sure "five oh" has been a police nickname for longer than Ford has been using the 5.0 designation (which goes back to what, '82?). The show Hawaii Five O ran from 1968 to 1980, so in fact the show was off the air even before Ford used the 5.0 designation.

How about someone putting the actual '11 5.0 engine into a Fox. That's the omly way the newer badges will look right on a Fox.

(and on a side note, they have really only been 4.9L since inception in '68!!!)

You know the engine swap is only a matter of 1) time and 2) the first person to get the money or get their hands on one.

I WISH i had the funds to drop a new 5.0 in my Fox. If i win the lottery in the next couple weeks...i'd do it. Rumor is Ford engineers are already working on the stand-alone engine harness and computer for the 5.0 to retrofit in older cars just like they did for the 3V engine.

But i'd imagine that swap would cost $10K easy. The retrofit harness for the 3V is $1500 just for that. It owuld prob be 2017 or so before 5.0's would be plentiful in the boneyards.

I hate to say it, but the new crop of people buying an '11 5.0 Mustang prob won't give a crap about the old 5.0's. You might get an enthusiast here and there who had some 5.0s..but most of the owners are gonna be older people who had one in the 60's and want a new one with power....and then the will proceed to talk crap about any Mustang made after 1973 and before 2011.

Yeah but at the same time the new 5.0 is gonna be a beast and is only gonna rekindle the notoriety of the "old" 5.0.

Yeah the engine itself is going to be a seriously awesome swap into a fox. We're talking Terminator power without a blower.

Shelby has already thrown a blower on it, but i think they changed the pistons.

I can't wait for the time, (prob 10-15 years from now) when the 5.0 is the bench mark again, and everyone is crying foul like the ricers and GM guys did a few years back!!!! That is going to be a fun time.
