well, I'm chris from VA. Got my mustang new in 08 basic no frills deluxe version (cloth interior, no shaker... no big deal) gt 5 speed. been a chevy man all my life, and would have contiued to be if chevy would have dropped the camaro a little sooner. so, I'm a mutt and I'm a mutt and love both platforms now. i get along with all my friends now anyway, wifes drives a honda haha..
my goals for this car are low 12's street trim. Plans are n/a because the powers there and avaliable in bolt ons. C&L/tuner of some sort, lt's (kooks, orx), 4.10's, lca&uca, qa1's, and the new m&t 295's. only thing complete isnt even in the plan and thats a hurst and pypes deletes. look forward to helping out.

Ford racing is developing a set of cams that will bump hp about 30, 75 with a port and polish. That would be a big jump on the 400 hp you want. "Now", if they would just release them for sell. Gears make a big difference, I'm running the 4:30's, it launches like a rocket. An intake and tune is good for around 30 hp and LT headers another 20, udp's maybe 6. We really need those cams to get to 400 n/a. The P Jones edition stang has a 400 hp stroked 3 valve to 5.0. A bump in compresion would also help as long as you keep it running on pump gas. You we really miss your old chevy's when you see the price of ford performance parts ha ha.

yea its unreal... i was looking at those same cams... which i think sutton http://www.suttonhp.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=765&DEPARTMENT_ID=253
already has out for 739 bucks... nsr cams as well with a nice lope.. yea i know what you mean about price's... my god.. its unreal what the newer technology costs.. i was looking at just the cam phase lockout tool to swap cams in these things. couple hundred dollars if i remember correctly.. F.A.S.T and C&L are supposedly coming out with a new intake manifold... http://www.cnlperformance.com/05_3v.html.. dunno when its going to be released, but looks like another possible 30hp+ gain in this alone.

Welcome Chris! Sounds like you and I are in almost exactly the same boat.... I've also been a chevy guy all my life, but ended up with a Mustang GT when I needed a new car. If there had been a Camaro at the time, I likely would have bought it. Even though I have some thing planned for the mustang, I spend most of my weekends working on my buddies 70 Nova SS. But that's more a function of him having a garage, time, and money to spare, while I don't.

Either way, I'm in downtown Richmond, and I'll be heading to the track as much as I can over the summer. Since you're in Dinwiddie, I assume you'll be at the track, but you should check out the street night at Richmond dragway. It isn't as nice of a track a Dinwiddie is, but you can get in a LOT of runs in one night for $15. The few times I went to Dinwiddie I spent most of the night waiting in line.

I'll keep an eye out for you, but if you make it to Richmond dragway one Friday, look me up. I'm the short guy in a currently stock Vista blue, and I'll be with a guy with the bright orange Nova. You can't miss it.

Wow man, I am in the same boat as you and homebrewer. Always been into Chevys but they just don't have anything right now that interests me, so I ordered an '08 GT. My playtoys are still Chevys though. I have an '86 Monte SS and the wife has(yes it's the wifes) '82 Z28. Hell, her daily's even a Honda too! Anyways welcome!:SNSign: BTW, I think it's pretty cool your from Dinwiddie VA since thats my last name and all.
