Hey guys! I just joined this forum yesterday, and I will probably have a lot of questions to keep you busy in the coming weeks. I have always been a die-hard Chevy fan, but I have fallen in love with foxbody Mustangs. I don't own one yet, but I plan to buy one in the next few years. I want to build an engine for the car before I buy the car. I plan to start with a FRPP C347 short block. I want to use AFR 185cc complete heads. I want approx. 10.5:1 comp. from this engine. Should I get the 58cc or the 61cc chambers on the heads? I plan to use a Comp Cams XE274HR cam. The springs on the AFR heads say their max lift is .550". Will I be able to use the .555"/.565" lift
XE274HR cam with the valve springs on the AFR heads? My final question for the time being is which intake should I use, FRPP GT-40 or Edelbrock Performer RPM II?

Holley manifold, 58cc stud mount afr's and get a custom grind cam. Match the springs to the cam. 1 3/4" longtubes. You could use the rpm II also, but from what I have read, the holley matches the ports better. A buddy of mine did 390rwhp under 6000 rpm with his 347 with FTI prepped afr 185's, FTI cam and an rpm II manifold he port matched himself.

If you're interested I could ask if he's selling the cam. I know he is, its just a metter of when its out.

Welcome to the forums... :SNSign:

Compression ratio with your stroker depends on the piston type and head chamber size. You can theoretically get your desired compression using either 61cc or 58cc head as long as you piston size is designed to make that compresssion with those combos.. in short, ask the makers of the kit

Yea, I really have nothing good to add.. but you sure do have a list of some great tried and true parts. U need the car now :nice:

Not to seem counter productive to your glorious engine build, but I think the questions you should be asking right now are things that you should look for when buying a fox body since you don't own one yet :nice: Also, what are your ultimate goals with the car, is it going to be a daily driver, a weekend warrior, or a trailer queen?

Thanks for the feedback. I have pretty much decided to go with the Edelbrock Performer RPM II intake. This car will be strictly for fun in my free time. I want it to be "mostly" street legal, so I can drive it around town. I will probably do a little bit of drag racing at the track with the car as well, but it will be mainly a street car. I know I want a '87-'93 hatchback. I would prefer it to be a GT, but a LX hatchback would get the job done. I am not a big fan of the coupes, and I don't like any kind of convertible. Thanks again.:nice:
