Hey everyone. I currently own a turbo Mitsubishi Eclipse that I have been playing around with for the past couple of months. Now I am looking to get into the Mustang world however I don't know too much about them. I was hoping you guys could shed some light on a couple of matters. First off, I already have a specific Mustang picked out. It already has the following modifications done to it and this is exactly how it is listed in the ad...

"SUPERCHARGED 5.0, 5-SPEED, VORTECH S-TRIM, 3.73 GEARS, MOTORSPORT SHORTY HEADERS, H-PIPE W/ FLOWMASTER MUFFLERS, T-5 TRANS W/KING COBRA CLUTCH, MSD 6AL, PRO 5.0 SHIFT KIT, ROUSH GROUND EFFECTS, 03 COBRA 17" WHEELS, BEAR 2 PIECE BIG BRAKE KIT W/03 COBRA MASTER CYLINDERS/HOSES & MORE! OVER $14,000 INVESTED"

Alright, from what is listed, about how much power to the wheels could this car be putting out? Also, what other kind of modifications can be done to beef it up further. Any help or advice would be great...thanks.

you can still do the Heads Cam Intake, and gear some really good numbers out of it, i would guess around 330350 to the ground. But i am not the best guesser on this board. There are a lot more upgrades that can be done, and the difference between the turbo eclipse and mustang will be great. I had a gst and it was quick, but lacked all the torque, and the whole interior rattled it was a 95. Went through head gaskets etc. after i first got it beacause of porblems from the prev. owner. My mustang is a lot more reliable i think. That boosted motor left me stranded a couple of times, two trannies at 1600 a rebuild and a pullie system that kept messing up and throwing belts etc. plus the Stang is a lot easier to work on yourself

just my .02

Depending on boost levels, it should have no trouble what so ever eclipsing (no pun intended) the 300rwhp mark. You could add heads, cam, and intake to it and push over 450rwhp with the proper selection of components and still retain good street manners. When you start making more power than that, the block itself becomes the week link and can split. There are solutions but they are $$$.

Being that the car is a 5-speed, so your looking in the neighborhood of 350 RWHP at 10 pounds of boost. You could ditch the shorty headers and put long tube headers on the car with a different H-pipe, along with a nice intake manifold, all for less than 1000 bucks and have ~400 RWHP to the wheels. If there aren't any fuel system upgrades, those are a necessity at this point if you want the motor to last.

I personally wouldn't buy the car. The trans is on borrowed time, I can guarantee it. Sure it's a great deal, but remember, this guy didn't put a supercharger on the car to drive it on Sunday to church. He put it on there to beat the hell out of it. I would venture a guess that the motor is on borrowed time as well. Without any fuel system upgrades or FMU, the motor probably runs VERY lean. Plus, it's much more fun to see the car evolve. Good luck, and welcome.

If that's a direct quote, get the car checked by a mechanic. I have never heard of any one calling a pro5.0 shifter a shift kit, or Baer brakes BEAR.

If it's for real, it could easily put down 350 hp even if it has stock heads, cam and intake. If it was butchered, it might have a hard time breaking 300. If it has good heads and it's tuned right, it could be a real monster.

Just make sure it has not been abused. A used up race car needs to have almost everything replaced.

DSM :hail2: I had a 91 GS-t about a month ago and that thing was bone stock but hauled some serious tail

i bought it at a car auction for 700.00 and al it needed was a little tune up (plugs/oil/filter/wires) and it was ready to roll!!
one of these days i'm going to buy an early 90's MR2 Turbo and boost the hell out of it

anyway..... yeah, i'm with the people above me, i wouldn't buy someone else's project

I wouldn't recommend buying a car with a blower on it. That is just asking for trouble. If it still has the stock fuel delivery then it is probably running lean as hell and that is the last thing you want a car to be doing with boost. Plus I am sure he drove it like hell and the tranny, block, or both are probably ready to go tits up. I would start with a different car and put on new heads, cam, and intake. You'll make around the same power as that blower motor if it still has stock H/C/I, but you'll be doing it a lot more reliably.

Just be aware of what everyone else has said. I would sya if you don't need to see the car evolve, buy it, if you like to do everything yourself, buy an unmodded car. As far the the mods go, I like what is done to the car, but it has the drawbacks that are stated above.

Oh yeah, WELCOME!
