I just put on a performer intake and at idle I have a lope now. It sounds like I have a cam but I have the stock one. I love the sound but I don't think its right. Im thinking I might have a vaccum leak somwhere. I just finished last night so i havn't had a chance to really check everything. Other than the lope it seems to pull a lot harder. What causes the lope?

Thanks,
Clay G.

Look Its Aaron said:
Vaccum leak I would say. Get some carb cleaner and spray around the manifold to see if the RPMs shoot up.

I second that. Its also pretty easy to miss a vacuum line on the back of the intake, and our cars aren't exactly spring chickens anymore, so the rubber vacuum lines are prone to cracking as well. I cracked 2 of mine when I installed my upper intake after I polished it.

Congrats on the purchase of the Performer intake, I've been looking into getting one myself.

Good Luck!

Ya its a California car. My dad was looking at it today and noticed the distributor cap was a little loose. We took it off and put it back on and now the lopes gone. If it starts doing it again I will check for leaks. Thanks for the help.
