My old maf is screwed up its showing less voltage than its supposed to. It is a pro-m 77. Im looking to get a new one I was wondering what would be recommended if theres a way id like more power and plus ill be upgrading to 351 in a year or two. Its a cobra w an e cam and full exhaust and its dyno tuned. I know ill hafta get it retuned so i already planned on that.

just pick up a stocker for now. any 94-95 gt meter will work. get a new one when you are ready for the 351.

you wont even notice the differene if there is one. just get a stocker for now. i had a 76 set up with the c&l pipe and ended up switching back to the stock box and maf. i did not gain or loose anything at the track.

yeah, from what i've seen w/ my own setup (and from reading around here on the tuning forum), you probably won't peg the stock unit w/ your current combo.

Seems to me

Depending on the amount of change in the tune your Pro did that would
relate to the meter ...........

A different meter may or may not work

If the cam and headers were the only mods you have done ..............
an oem meter would most likely work fairly well

Main thing would be if the old ProM meter was for a Cobra with 24's

does pro m make a different meter for the cobra? my guess would be its the same as the gt . i do see what your saying though about if there were specific changes to the tune it might not be as simple as just pluging in a stocker.

Here is my take on it

The thing that is key here is in how the manufacturer does the
calibration or as some have called it ... The Cheat Method

Since we are talking ProM ... its gonna be done electronically

The manufacturer knows and works with two main pcm parameters

1) the injector size
2) the meters transfer curve

Since the info is different in the GT & Cobra pcm's
then
ProM has to deal with those differences between the two

btw ... it is along these same lines you see peeps get into trouble when
they try switching out the electronics between these kinds of meters

You never confirmed if the ProM 77 was calibrated for a Cobra with 24's

If it was ... a 94-95 meter from a GT or Cobra should work fine.
and
It would seem a retune would not be necessary if you go this route.

Most likely it was ordered for how the car now is equipped

You can probably find an OEM meter for next to nothing in cost

That is how I would go until you do up your new combo

I will say to you a ProM or C&L or any other meter would not give you
any gains ... or ... if any ... less than 5rwhp IMHO.

You just aren't moving enough air at this time to warrant the OEM
meter as being ineffective :Word:
