hello Guys/gals, I have read on this board for a year or so. Finally joined. Let me say without too much flaming, i'm a fbody dude, but I think as long as you don't rice a car out its kool. And mustangs are ok. Anyway there is a cheap one in the paper where live, but 1988 GT, speed denisty right? i know on fbodies most peaple like MAF what about on mustangs? Also how hard would it be to put a 140mph speedo in it, since it should have the 85 stock setup. Thanks guys

MAF is good for people who start doing major mods, like camshafts, high flow heads, and big intakes. As far as bolt ons like exhaust and pullies, SD is going to be fine. The speedo swap is easy, as the whole unit swaps out, but it's an expensive piece to find. If the car is from CA. then it might be MAF anyway, just look at the intake tube and you'll know. Good luck!

I think i will try to go look at this car. So whats up with the 5 lug conversion thing i hear? I just want a cheap mustang or fbody 1000< to play around with. I have never driven a 88, but they do have a big front sway bar they should handle ok for a mustag LOL j/k guys. No flaming me now...But its a 5 speed, and i want a manual, none of our cars are, and manuals are fun. how much will a 88gt weight about 3100?

I believe the GT's (non convertible) were around 3220lbs, LX hatch ~3160, LX notch being the lightest at a little over 3100lbs.
