Finally got my first "go fast" mod.

Picked up an UPR o/r X from someone I know for a decent price. Lightly used, in perfect shape.

Now I gotta get some weld in mufflers and my TB and plenum so I can slap these bad boys on at the same time. Im thinking some round cased DynoMax Ultraflow's... they are only 35 bucks a muffler, so that wouldnt be too bad to have those on there untill I got a catback. Pretty sure that would be loud as hell.

It was highly suggested that I go to a shop and get the midpipe swap done, but I am determined to do it myself if possible. What do you guys say? Hard swap, or not hard swap... I have basic hand tools, a set of jacks and a set of ramps.

And one more thing... I dont have MIL's or a tuner to shut the CEL off, is it ok to drive it like that? Just tripping the rear o2's..?

Yes its ok to drive it like that you may not even trip the CEL some people have gone years, some people months, some people weeks, and some people trip it as soon as they turn the car on. I drove around with a CEL for about a month before i had a tune to shut it off.

Ive heard of people driving around with the CEL on for months... you should be fine just get it taken care of as soon as you can so every passenger who gets in your doesnt doesnt say " Hey i think your cars broke "

mos def doable on jackstands/ramps.

just a tip, spray the hel out of the passenger side nuts overnight with pb blaster. you'll need a 3/8 swivel and several extensions to reach it, and a bit of effort but shouldn't be too bad after the pb blaster works in.

another thing, buy a new oem passenger side gasket.

and its okay to drive with a cel. only thing is you won't know when you get a different problem

Hit the install right on the nose. Def. get some pb blaster and soak them over night. Seems the pas. side is the hardest, you will need the 3/8" swivel for sure and some extensions. If I recall, I think the one on the pas side, when you use the swivel you have to get right agaisnt the frame rail to get an angle at it. I started it the first time and gave up, then I went back a week later and looked at everything and took my time and it was easy as cake. Hard past is getting the stocker off.

I love geting new stuff too haha, I just put on a plenum and t.b. on my car today and that was easy as pie!!!!!!!!! So simple, I didnt get to drive it yet, but I cant wait till it dries up outside and I can see how it feels :hail2:

If I were gonna drop the K-member I would just go longtubes... that seems like too much of a project/PITA for me right now. I dont have the biggest set of tools, and honestly dont know where to begin for dropping the K-member.

Drop the K-member.. easiest way for a midpipe! Trust me on this one! :D

I did it last weekend.. dropping the k-member for a midpipe and it was a BREEZE! So much better!

Dude youre crazy, it would take about as much time to just do the x pipe than to take off the K member. It took me about 2 hours by myself to do the swap.

you gotta be joking ....right?

i took my car into a shop because i didnt have jacks at the time, and the guy swapped my mid pipe in less than 40 min.

also...has anyone mentioned disconnecting the battery just as a saftey precaution. my bro and a friend did the install on a taurus and got a spark shower raining down on them. :rlaugh:

I installed a cat-back and prochamber all at once...and it took me forever. But I'm no pro wrench....but I did get it done. Took a rubiks cube worth of extensions and swivels though. Swapping just a mid-pipe would probably be pretty easy though. The cat-back and prochamber I had was in like 6 different pieces. Was a PITA getting it all aligned.

Do it...do it....DO IT!
