New Taurus SHO!!

I dont think those cars are junk, but they have a ton of quirks. Weak clutch and differential, pain in the ass to work on. But what front wheel drive car isn't a pain in the ass to work on. I love the cars and always thought they were cool. I think mine is good for maybe a high 14 so thats pretty respectable for a relatively stock car. Ford definatly rushed some things on them. I think the new SHO is a really cool idea and apparently the 3.5 is a pretty good engine. I saw a new regular Taurus at the Philly Auto show and its really really nice. Its much larger than the old ones. I'm sure it will sell. But ya never know.

My 94 SHO has been my daily driver for 5 years without any problems.
A good friend mine was at the press unveiling for the SHO last Wed.
Should be available in July. There will be a track-pac option, meaning suspension and brakes. Yes a twin turbo 3.5 V6 365 HP with a paddle shifted 6-speed auto will be the powertrain, AWD optional. Ford racing was there also and confirmed they are working on suspension and power packs available form ford racing. Sounds like the family mans toy to me!

the ecoboost engine is not going to be a problem they are running them as we speak to make sure there going to get the longevity there looking for.

your going to see this v6 ecoboost engine in every platform from the taurus to the F150 that is what ford is banking on right now, and its about time

Ford cut a lot of corners on the 1st three SHO generations, which was common practice during that era. The ATX trans in the 93-95 was the same slushbox used with the Vulcan 3.0 in the Taurus GL. 140hp vs 220hp and 8000rpm...no wonder they crapped out. Other than having to be a bit more particular with maintenance, they never had any problems that normal Tauruses didnt have...which isnt saying much but even so, they make spectacular daily drivers and run forever if you take care of them.

As for it having more power than the Mustang, who cares? It more than likely won't be faster than the stang. It is a big car and AWD, lots of weight and drivetrain loss. It will be a ton of fun I am sure...nice to go out and pick on the BMW's and Infiniti's of the world, but it will never be a Mustang no matter which way you slice it. More power doesn't necessarily mean better...just ask GM who couldnt outsell the Mustang even when combining Camaro and Firebird sales...no matter how much power their LS motors made
