New Wheels And Rear Brakes!

Oh forgot to mention..the wheels are sold by discount tire under the brand MD Motorsports-Competition (wheel name) but its made by a Japanese company named A-Tech. Anyways there really light 20.5 lbs a piece (per discount tires website) and only cost me $125 a piece (listed at $150 ish). As far as quality goes...I ran across them on cornercarvers.com and lots of guyz with factory five cobra race cars use these wheels exclusively because there so cheap and light...so far I havent heard of a failure. I figured since the factory five cars use our hubs and stuff I looked into the wheels more and the back spacing is very similar to a OEM 95 cobra wheel...basically it fits well.
For kicks I weighed my old wheel and tire combo vs. the new one yesterday:

OLD OEM 98 Cobra's (17x8)+ 20,000 mi. old Kumho 712's (255/40/17) =48 lbs.

NEW ATECH Wheel's (17x9)+ Brand New Falken Azenis rt-615 (275/40/17) = 49.5 lbs

I think its reasonable to say that the worn out kumho's are missing a pound or two of rubber...so compared new they prolly both weigh about the same.

I am/was using the same size front and rear.

thanks stprorolla49. I basically picked these wheels on price and weight...I was hoping it wouldent look too horrible on my car and I think it turned out pretty good. I was looking to go 17x9 wheel and a 275 width tire and keep it about the same weight at each corner which sounded kinda hard on a budget...but I was able to do it. I payed $1350 out the door for the wheels, tires, install, new tuner style lugs (only ones that fit) and lock key. That includes tax and 0% financing for 6 mo. I think I got a good deal.:D

Thanks killer...WOW sombody noticed I was gone for a while...I feel all warm and fuzzy inside:D . I've been too busy with school, our UIC chapter of SAE, and my other most recent hobby (guns:rolleyes: ). Anyways...I'll try and get day time pics in the morning and post tomorrow night when I get home from school. Car isnt insured yet (winter storage) and I dont get home from school while theres daylight AND I'm only half conscious in the morning so I may forget. But I'll try.

Henceforward, Yea That side of the car has been like that for the last two years. It hasent rusted 1 bit so its not that bad. I used the ins. money from the fender bender as down payment the 331 in my sig. Anyways since then any money spent on my car has not found its way into the body work fund. It will get fixed eventually probably after the torque arm, and coil-overs, yada-yada. It never ends...:nonono:

More importantly "Holy Road rash Batman!" its funny you mention that because my name is Robin.:hail2:

Same with me. My passenger quarter is a little banged up from a woman who forced me off the road and never stopped 2 years ago. All my money since then has gone into the engine. It will get fixed, eventually:rolleyes:.

The hood pins are FMS..they are SS but they still rust like every other brand. I have to clean the rust off periodically...it's kinda annoying.

Yea no center caps if you look at the front wheel photos you can see the plastic wheel bearing cap protruding out of the center of the wheel. In the rear the caps (I think there caps) are metal and dont protrude but they are pretty flush with the wheel. I gotta paint those or something, dont like the big rust spot in the center of the rear wheels.
