Nick's "lvndpst" Restoration (and Slight Modification) Thread

I don't miss that job.

What material are you going to use for the heat barrier? I was thinking of doing something like that. I'd like to put a heat shied in the trans tunnel and around the mufflers to keep the interior from heating up as I idle in traffic on a warm day.
Y’all have warm days up there?

Well I dropped into a couple local auto parts houses, and they all have the same DEI brand 12 inch X 24 inch for $23. No thanks.

Checked Harbor Freight for giggles, and nothing there. Gonna try the other local home improvement stores tonight. Surely someone has a roll.

Lowes sells the same peel and stick insulation in the hvac area... use it on a hatchback years ago and it wasn't bad. Not sure if it'll hold up to the elements though as I used it only on the interior

I went and checked around, and while I did find options, I ultimately decided to order silver POR15, and will pick up a pint of black for the axle. I am just going to wait and dynamat the floor on the inside of my car, rather than take a chance on insulation that may only last a year or two under the car. I dont want to redo under the car again for 15+ years, and planned to dynamat the interior anyway. That'll be later this summer though.

I've never found anything that was peel and stick for the underside of a car that would hold up. I used dynomat from toe board to tail light panel on my 89 gt when I had the interior out, you can feel the difference on the floor and trans tunnell, just wish I'd used it on my roof too, used it on the 'dump truck' too, makes a difference.

I plan to take my interior out toward the end of the summer to inspect for rust, clean the carpet, and dynamat the floor. Good to know about the ceiling, but I dont know that I will go as far as pulling out the headliner. Its in really good shape.

Putting sound mat in my car was the best mod I've ever done, hands down. If I ever own another fox, that's going to be #1 for sure - it made that much of a difference.

This is on my list of things to do as well. Possibly next winter. I've head putting it under the headliner does make a huge difference, so I may do this separately very shortly.

The headliner's not too bad to remove if you don't have a sunroof.

Well, my car will never be numbers matching again.

Ok, no more tears. I need a new TB gasket and the Accufab TB and spacer is installed. While I was digging around looking for an extra TB gasket, I found this.

Good thing I just bought and installed a different one. Its no @tannerc91gt axle length error though, so Im ok with it. Anyone need a new rear main seal?

The flywheel friction surface plate will be here Thursday, as well as my POR15. Hopefully I can at least get the POR15 on, and the flywheel and new clutch installed Thursday night. This weekend is my daughter's first birthday, so there will be no garage time happening. I am enjoying every milestone of my baby girl, as it'll be the last time one of my own children hits them.

Man I tell ya, shopping local is getting more and more frustrating. Had I ordered POR15 online, I would have saved $5 per can, as well as had it by now. Yesterday I go to pick up the POR15 from my local Arnold Motor Supply only to find out its not in yet. Was supposed to be here Wed, the Thursday, now they arent even sure about today because "it should have been here Wednesday, Im not sure where it is." So much for getting the trans tunnel painted within a week of cleaning it up.

What I did manage to do was change out my flywheel friction surface plate. Had to do that in the kitchen to be able to watch my kids as my wife prepared for the bday this weekend. She is the type to go way over the top...

These little bastards called for 5 ft lbs... To me that means red loctite and snug with a small ratchet. The heads of the screws are phillips, so you clearly arent meant to be able to over torque them anyway.
