Hey guys I want to set my car up to run nitrous at the track but I do a lot of street driving with it. Maybe drive it a couple times a week on the road. Putting spark plugs in my car is no easy task. With the gt40p's I need to remove my headers to get them out so it's not something I want to be doing every week. I was wondering if I put 2 heat ranges colder plugs in there how will it run on the street like that? Will I notice a difference? What would be the effects of doing this?

just use a good set of champions and close the gap a bit and you will be good. i have been running a 125 zex shot like this and no issues, i can't remember what i closed them too but i have about 40 passes on them and they still look perfect.car runs perfect.unless your running a big shot kit 125 and up i would not worry about it. allot of the forums say you have to but i just listened to my dyno guy and it seems to be good.

How big of a hit you going to hit it with?
But I wouldn't run champion in anything even my lawn mower doesn't get those junk!

The doesnt really answer my question I dont want to know what brand to use, I want to know about the heat range. I was thinking of eventually hitting 125. What exactly would happen if I ran colder plugs on a street car??

ran autolites (23s i think, whatever is 2 steps colder) on a 91gt with a 125 shot. didnt retard the timing, didnt do anything special and never noticed a single issue with the car. despite what some guys seem to think, a 125 shot really isnt a lot. you wont notice much or any difference IMO.

your going to be fine running colder plugs in your car. It might loose a little hp but you should be fine. On newer cars its a little easier because you can tune the car via PCM to run with the plugs.

Colder plugs aren't going to cost power and don't need tuning changes to be used in a road-going engine. The only downside is that they will tend to accumulate deposits faster than the correct heat range. Just don't use platinum plugs with a power adder.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with Champions or any of the other big brands for that matter.
