no more mach one chin spoiler???

The word I got from several sources was that the company that made the Mach 1 spoiler and grill delete went out of buisness. I was also told by some that Ford was in the works for a new supplier (right).

I went to my local Ford Dealer, and had them look the part up and locate the nearest one (I wasn't going to trust ordering it) . It was only 20 miles away! So 30 mins and $95+tax later I was on my way home. But I tought it better than waiting... forever.

So if you don't mind spending the bucks, try Ford.

PS. the box will just barely fit in the trunk/back seat.

I emailed Mustang Tuning on the Mach1 spoiler...... asking about the production.... if they were gonna sell it again. Here is their response:

Justin,

We have been working on getting these again. We probably will be able to get them again however, they will probably run almost double the price since it was a Ford decision to not wholesale them anymore.

This sucks! At least $120.00 for a piece of plastic!!! I'm definitely gonna get a Cobra bumper now.....

I have the ABCEXCLUSIVE cobra lip on my oem cobra bumper...I like it a lot.

whats the cobra R bumper isnt it the same as the cobra bumper?

i like that lip for the cobra bumper, too. got any pics?

the cobra R bumper is different than the 94-98 cobra bumper--it's molded after the y2k cobra R bumper, so it's got that added lip. link:

Hey guys, I talked to the ever-cool Alan. He said that it would probably be cost prohibitive on the scales we are talking here.

He did mention for us to just try and find something else which can be reworked/modified to create a similar spoiler. If anyone has ideas, I am all ears (I have poked around the home store a bit, but nothing has caught my fancy as being a good candidate).

As an aside, a birdie mentioned Alan and SOS's fine work is soon to be featured in a mag or two. I will keep a look-out. :)

Here is the ABC lip for the KHOBRA bumper.

i agree, someone should take theres off and make a mold, then start making there own. $6 for plastic and turn around and sell it for 50-60 bucks and u will get rich fairly quickly. if only these big huge companies could think of somehting like this

Hey guys. HISSIN50 pointed me to this thread and I wanted to see if some of my experience on this topic could help you out.

Mac-man, your idea is exactly what I'd recommend someone doing. It's what I would do, and you could start making your own without too much investment. Getting rich, that would be a bigger challenge. :) Having a production-worthy mold made can be costly, and I'd guess that chin spoiler mold would be over 50K (for injection molding).

A hand-made mold won't hold up to many cycles of material lay-up and releasing. They wear out quick. Also, controlling the quality is a very hard thing to ensure. Just look at how many people complain of ill-fitting hoods, skirts, and wings on these boards. That's from "big companies" most of the time, with a lot more than a garage budget.

I really like seeing a challenge in things like this. I believe I could pull this off, but my time won't allow this project until the late fall/early winter. Anyone else willing to invest the time/money/sweat into it, PM me and I'll be happy to offer help towards your goal.

Any idea on what material the factory chin spoiler is made of? Rubber, plastic, uerethane?

hope this helped somehow.

Alan

I remember seeing in the back of like a Muscle Mustangs n Fast FOrds a few years ago a guy retrofitted a Mitsubishi Eclipse aftermarket fascia to replace the one on his 95 stang, it actually looked pretty good I thought.
