Noob Tuning question

This is as newbie a question as they come. I apologize in advance.

First of all, do I need a tune, would I benefit from one (see sig for mods)
Second of all, what are the best options for getting a tune?

I know there are handheld tuners, but, can the dealership tune the car?
Do you absolutely need a handheld tuner or can you, for instance, take the car into the dealership and have them tune it to optimize performance???

And if this was possible, how much would it potentially cost?

I know this question is newbish, but I haven't considered modding or even really thought about cars for the last 3 years due to other events occuring in my life. I basically strengthened the tranny added the higher stall TC and installed the exhaust and then drove my car a handful of times for the next several years when I managed to get back home.

Anyways, what are my options in regard to a tune (if i would benefit from one) and what would that cost? I'm looking for cheapest options available, I'm very poor at the moment.

Don't think you would benefit from it that much. If you were running spray or a procharge then it would be necessary and help. Places around here in AZ charge about $150 for a tune. I have a handheld Diablo that I found unmarried and picked it up for $100. I did feel the throttle response quicken and fixed my speedometer from my 3.73's. Hope this helps!

you would benefit from a tune, mostly for the transmission changes. do the J-Mod if you haven't already. the dealership can only flash factory tunes. you usually get what you pay for, so don't get a tune just because it's cheap.
