Just curious... mine has about 75k on it and it seems to be starting to slip some. When I hit 2nd hard I hear a kind of short metallic squeek from under the car and the tires don't hardly even chirp... although the 285 Nittos don't help that.

Depending on your driving style,50-100k is probably normal. The squeaking sounds to me like the throwout bearing on the tranny. It's a common problem with mustangs.

Mine's been beat to death and it still grabs almost 100 percent. Are you sure your belts not slipping?

When you decide to change out your stock clutch. Get a Centerforce Dual friction.

Doubt it, its only when I shift as fast and hard as I can into 2nd. Used to be able to get sideways, now I just hear that noise... and sounds more like metal on metal or ceramic on metal scraping. Its got to be the clutch starting to slip. I know the noise you speak of... and I hear that all the time while I'm just cruising in pretty much any gear. Sounds like 10000 crickets under the car... its not that.

Yea, can't be the belts because its preventing me from getting sideways in 2nd like I used to be able to. Its losing power to the wheels. Not to make it sound like I do this all the time either... I rarely ever do, just that the last couple times I've tried I heard that noise and the tires hardly even chirp.

im replacing mine this week with a spec stage 2....my car only has 14,000 miles on it but when ford does the fix on my 3650 i figure i might as well have them throw a new clutch in ....why throwout bearing is making some noise too

I have 80K miles on my stock clutch and it works great. Put about 40 track runs on it and no slipping yet. Most of the miles were highway driving.

The throw out bearing started chirping at 37K miles and still chirps.

My car used to get side ways on 1-2 shift until I got subframe connectors. Not that my answer has anything to do with your question.

115k miles on mine and it still grabs 100%. 50 or so trips down the track. No high RPM clutch dumps though.....that's the key. Then again, I have Kumhos, so that would be pointless.

A clutch should outlast a car unless it has been beaten, which most of ours have.
