Does anyone from Northern, VA know where i can get an emissions test done that will make me "PASS".

PM me if you konw.

THanks.

My Bassani X with cats is making me fail the NOx. The limit is 605 and my reading is 760, any suggestions on how to drop it.

Will a new cat help me pass?

Clean throttle body and get some fuel additive, specifically ones that help lower emissions. They have a money back guarantee. I've used it a couple times and my buddy at work failed emissions here in Va and I told him about it, he passed next day. 7 bucks at the most. Worth a try

Oh and very important. Make sure the car is running at normal temperature for at least 5 miles before taking it to get emissions done. A cold Convertor will not burn NOx efficiently.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know which brand of additive he used? Does the high octane gas make a difference?

No I never saw it. Just look for anything that has the guarantee. Bought mine from pepboys. Most additives will reduce emissions anyways. High octane won't make a difference.

I've also got another suggestion, never used it though. When your gas tank is close to empty, add some rubbing alcohol and go get your inspection. The reasoning is that alcohol burns cleaner. Your car will still run properly though, it shouldn't act funny. NO guarantees!

I have heard that using 106octane will also help the car run cleaner. Or even adding octane booster, dont konw if that will work though. I will go to pep boys tomorrow and get those Guaranteed to pass and see if it works.

Hell get both, it can't possibly hurt much

When i initially did the emission test, i ran the car for about 20min and then got it tested and it failed, tahts with bassani and 12degrees timing, i have one free test and i was thinking if i lower the timing to 8degrees that might help. I have cleaned the EGR valve also

If all else fails put the stock ones back on if you still have it

Although I've had no problems in the past with aftermarket Cats.

I have not had a problem with the Bassani two years ago when i did emissions, however since i did the 02headswap 6 months ago and it raised compression, he said the combustion chambers are running hotter and they need the stock cats to eliminate the NOx. Not sure how accurate that is..

Sounds about right.. Put it back in if it still doesn't pass. Four cats is better than two...
