Hey guys, I have been toying with the idea of putting NOS on my stang. What are your thoughts? Anyone running NOS on a 99+ 2V? Upside? downside? I have heard that its bad and that I will blow my motor, is this true? I know that if I run lean I will be screwed, so I don't think I can just throw a NOS bottle in the trunk and calling it a day.

I have decided to go with the Xcal2 and to get a new MAF; I was looking at a lightning 90 MAF, any thoughts on this?

Also since I will have even more air with the maf alone I was thinking that I would need bigger injectors, right now they are stock. Or is it possible to have a tune made on a dyno and keep the stock injectors and or fuel pump. Pretty much I want to know what I will need to do to add a small shot of NOS and what is a good amount. Thanks.

ohhh I need to update my profile, but right now I have a Densecharger CAI, stock MAF, BBK 70mm T/B, Trickflow plenum, T/B and plenum spacers. Aluminum driveshaft, Mac pro-chamber with cats and a mac cat back. On payday I will be adding an Xcal2 to my list :D

Nitrous 101

Ok here we go

With nitrous its not any worse for a motor then a charger or turbo as long as you have a good tune, you can run 300 bottles through it and as long as it is tuned right you will be ok. As for the lean problem you can run a bigger fuel pump such as 190 lph or 255 lph and your lean problem will be solved. You can run up to a 75 shot on a stock fuel pump and just run a colder setting on the spark plugs. With the xcal it adjust fuel and timing (usually advances) curves so i would take the program out. Advanced timing with nitrous is gona lead to detination. Leave the MAF alone till you get heads, cams or a charger you really don't need it right now. You won't need bigger injectors the tuner will be able to adjust for that. You could go to 24 lbs if you wanted to. I would run 75-100 shot. You will be happily pleased with the hp and torque.

All nitrous does is allow more oxygen into the motor for it to make more power. Atmosphere oxygen is aorund 20% with nitrous you run closer to 37%. More fuel + more O2 = more power

P.S. get some gears

:stupid:

Go to a reputable tuner/shop; Modular Depot, Jerry W from SCT, MPH, Kauffmans

Ok, cool. Thanks. Just so I’m not confused, you’re saying that you would NOT get a MAF and that the Xcal2 should be able to tune for the NOS? I was going to have a shop throw her on a dyno and custom tune it. It’s a little pricey, but I would rather pay for a good safe tune than blow my motor ya know? Quality not quantity. Also you do not think new injectors or a fuel pump is a must?

You wont need injectors or a pump if you run a 75-100 shot. For the price, you could invest now and it wouldn't hurt. a 255 lph pump is about $120 and some 30# injectors are about $220.

ok, bottle heater on the list. hmmm so you would not get the Xcal2 ? the local shop says that he can make a custom tune and store it in the xcal2? or did he say the xcal1? darn.... either way you would have a shop do the tunning huh? thanks WhiteNight.

Also how do you like you cross drilled rotors?any cracking? do they help at all? worth the extra $$$ ?

You can get a flip chip, which you can have like 4 diff settings one for N/A one for the juice ect. Its up to you. I wouldn't get the xcal, he can just flash your stock one and just run a Nitrous set up all the time it won't hurt the car. Yes i would get a dyno tune its gona be the safest way.

As for my rotors i like them over stock thats for sure they don't fade nearly as fast, but if i woulda had the cash i woulda got the 13" up front.

i paid about 400 for the rotors and pads and everything. the 13" is like 1100 i guess you can get the cobra kit for cheaper but i like to go big.

good luck :nice:

ok, cool. i am about to order the "power slot" rotors this week. i did have a diablo ship, but i sold it becuase i would have to put it in the brain. with the xcal he told me that it can hold anytune and it will flash the the stock cpu. i want to be able to return it to stock quickly, in case it ever needs to go to the dealer. she is still under 36k warrenty, and i spend the extra to get the ext'd warr. ya see where i'm going with that?

Cross drilled crack though...either way ya go, they'll either fade or crack depending on the type of rotor you get. Thats what happens when you get high performance parts and use them :nice:

Yea i don't road race so they will last a while, i just got them becuase i like knowing that the brakes are there when i need them. Or when i find a windy road

LOL, yeah i try to not street race, but i would like to be able to stop quicker if need be. not too many windy roads out here....

hey pro-charged GT, you don't think i need bigger injectors or fuel pump? i can run a 75-100 shot on stock fuel pump and injectors?

I think you should be ok. You should run into the low 3's with a 75-100 shot; but like I said earlier you can upgrade to 30# injectors and a 255 lph fuel pump for about $440. It would be insurance that your getting plenty of fuel, as I'm not really sure what the max. the stock fuel system can support.
