Just to let you know this is only going to be a weekend racer...so it will only see the nitrous one or two days a month (maybe 4-8 runs total), right now the car is in good running condition.

questions:

1)I will be running shorty headers, o/r h-pipe, mufflers, intake, 3.73 gears, electric fan (with 3g), 195lph fuel pump, and drag radials. Everything else will be stock, injectors, upper/lower, etc. With the stock injectors and everything, will the car be able to run a 75 shot? Will it run too lean?

2)Will oem spec spark plugs work and with the stock gap?

3)I want to do the install my self, is it a difficult install?

4)Any reviews on brands?

5)How much do you have to retard the timing? What degree that is...

6)Do you leave the timing retarded? Does this affect daily driving?

Yes some of these are very general, if you need more info let me know

Thanks

jeremy

1: yes, it will work fine on that 75. should be good to like 125-150, then you should get bigger injectors.

2: i asked NOS tech line, they dont like platinum plugs, said to run autolites... 1 or 2 stages colder than stock.

3: install takes 3-5 hours depending on kit.

4: i have a nos dry kit on my car, i like it. i helped install a zex kit, thats a much "cleaner" install job with the brain box.

5: 2 degress would be good.

6: you can leave it retarded if you want, wont really effect your daily driving. you can get a timing light and move it back to 12 or 14 when your not planning on running the juice.

75 shot is fine w/ the 195 and stock inj. i did it on my notch and am currently spraying 100 hp on stock pump and stock inj. and haven't seen it lean yet.

stock plugs are fine , but i would re-gap them to about .040 DEFINITELY NO PLATINUMS

the install is waaaay easier than it sounds
the zex is super ez and only takes about 2 hours tops

run 10* when spraying a 75 shot and then 12*-14* when your not....you can get an msd w/ a dial for your timing so you don't have to keep changing it depending on if your spraying or not

as far as brands.....my notch 5-speed went 13.20's NA and 12.50's on 75 shot
4.10's and 5-speed w/ the NOS 5115 dry kit

my 'vert is all stock w/ 3.73's and aod and went 15.10's on street tires and 13.60's on street tires on the zex 100 shot

i like them both , the zex was cleaner and quicker install. no relays and the selonoids are all put together, plus no microswitch...it runs off tps voltage which i like better as well

come to think of it...i may sell my zex kit w/ heater and msd 6al for $500
i'll have to think about it...the car is up for sale anyway

Should not be a difficult install, I did mine, carbed 302 kit. About 4 hours over two days, plus some more for the bottle heater.

I have had no problems with the 100 shot. I did add a Holley higher flow mechanical fuel pump, but still have stock lines and tank pickup. Going to try the 125 jets soon.

I recommend NOS, there tech guys were quick to respond, both by phone and email, and I did have a small problem and a lot of questions.

Nitrous Express has a strong support group here. Compucar is good, but they seem small. Good tech and good response. I got a spare bottle from them.
