On my way home today from work im driving along i hit and bump not even a big bump at all i then hear a rattleing type noise then BAMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! my rear end blew...no signs no noise before this nothing...Im thinking Something to do with the ring and pinion?...the car goes into gear the drive shaft just spins....the rear is free moving...then when i put it back into the park you hear the trans parking brake clicking because there is no way i can stop the driveshaft from spinning no rear brakes to stop it......So the car is an AOD with 3.27's should i do the stock gears or go bigger this is my daily tho by the way...Now I have 2 mustang's in the stable...and no way to get to work this sucks!!!!!

I would at a minimum do a 3.55 but a 3.73 isn't too high. Unless you get on the highway a lot I wouldn't hesitate for 4.10's. On a budget, you could no doubt find some 3.27's for cheap or possibly free as they are what came in most newer mustangs.

Thanks Guys this is my daily i drive on the parkway ALOT...so i was thinking maybe 3.55's...3.73's but how much less gas mileage would i get stepping up from 3.27's?...i get 20 mpg anyway i drive it dead on all the time now so i was wondering how much less would it be?...Also would i notice any performance gain going from 3.27's to say 3.55's or not really?

at 75-80MPH Im turning almost 3,000 RPM's with 3.73's. 4.10's or higher for the higyway would suck

This has always puzzled me. I put a T5-Z with 4.10's in my 89 and hit 21mpg all the time. Buzzed around 2500rpm on the highway, what is the OD ratio on an AOD? Only other thing I can figure is when I tuned it with a Tweecer the mileage went up.
