Not Sure If I Should Buy...

Hey guys new to the forum. A deal popped up from one of my students parents for an 05 GT 5 speed. The car only has some suspension work done and is his daily driver. He knew I was in the market for another fox and offered me his car if I was interested.

The car has 170k and he wants $2500. Not very familiar with the 3 valve motors so I figured I'd ask the pros!!!

Originally intended on tracking down a t tops fox for a decent price to build.

$2500 puts it cheaper than most V8 Mustang IIs and even cheaper than some 96-98 V8 cars. That's 100% a steal barring any damage, issues, or a salvage title.

Just wasn't sure about the reliability. Any common issues with these cars? Its lowered and is bone stock otherwise. Looking to just keep miles off my truck.

I've had a few foxes and am pretty comfortable fixing anything with them.

My 2010 GT was dead reliable, never fixed a thing on it. My 2009 GT/CS had the throttle body, a snap-ring in the trans, and the nav unit all fail on it in three months and 3000 miles. I bought both used with low miles.

No major concerns with 3V, normal OHC stuff like timing chain tensioners and VCT's but other then that very well built.
