what exhaust setup do you guys think will be too loud on a vert? I know a couple of you will say none, but I need some opinions. i have been leaning toward slp, but id like to be able to have a conversation at cruising speeds. I don't mind loud at wot and I love the rumble, i just don't want to go overboard.- thanks

when you're cruising, you can have a conversation. when you're stopping and going, i can imagine that it would be difficult in a vert, however i can also imagine how beautiful it would sound...

How is this not your average exhaust question? Its exactly your average exhaust question. But to answer your average question SLP is pretty much the loudest exhaust u can get, Bassani is a nice mellow tone little raspy for my taste. You would probably like magnapacks nice deep rumble at idle and down low but screams at WOT or Flowmaster is a good choice also. If u dont want to loud I would get a catted mid-pipe also.

no, i asked how the exhaust would be with a convertible which is different. maybe i'm wrong but i thought a hard top would stop more sound and change it more then a vert with the top down. I was asking so maybe someone with a convertible could speak from experience. I'd like to figure out the loudest I can go and still enjoy having the top down and cruising with music and whatnot. basically, if I had a coupe, i'd get slp no doubt about it.

Magnapacks and Bassani are not exactly quiet or mellow

I'd say something like regular magnaflow mufflers or possiblly 50 series delta-flows

Speaking from experience.... because I have a vert...

When the top is down you can't really here the stereo that well unless it's up LOUD. I have a sub and a few other goodies and it's not so bad while driving but still not as nice as the coupe system sounds.

If your looking for a cat-back that isn't too loud you do NOT want SLP. No ill feelings towards SLP becuase I wouldn't mind having it, but it's LOUD. For a nice sounding cat-back that isn't going to kill the little stereo sound you have go with a chambered muffler. The Bassani and Magnaflow are not that bad at idle and only drone around 2200 RPM's and SCREAM at WOT. They both have a nice deep tone although the Bassani has a more exotic sound. As for being raspy, it's not. When mated with an X pipe, maybe but you'll get that with most cat backs when mated with an X. I have had flows on my car and now the Bassani. I have ridden in cars with pretty much every cat back except the FRPP and MAC.

chambered muffler = less aggressive tone
straight through desing = more aggressive tone

The choice is yours and I hope your happy with whatever you decide to get. If you can find some people with after market cat-backs, give them a listen.

I would have to agree with the others that said Magnaflows, not the Magnapacks. I have the 'Packs on my vert with the Pro-Chamber and it sounds mean as hell. However, if you are looking to have a conversation in the car, go with the regular Magnaflows. I don't care to have too many conversations in my car, that happens when I stop. But if you lean more to the "Scare the crap out of little kids when you rev it", then go with the Magnapacks.

The Dynomax's that I have are decent. Louder than stock but not so loud as to annoy you. Good thing I'm getting flows.
