Nothing positive about the GT-40 Intake?

I have been reading many threads on intake manifolds and it is rare to see the GT-40 intake even mentioned. Some have said the cobra and GT-40 run out of breath early and this has me concerned that my intake (GT-40) is not going to be able to handle a lightly supercharged application. All the rage seems to be for the Trick Flow intake recently. Can someone confirm what I've been reading? Is the GT-40 intake just not up to snuff with some of the newer ones? It'd be hard to get rid of because I just love the way it looks. Thanks!

i dont think a lil boost will do that maybe 5psi. u can always have the think port if u still want to keep the gt40

It's old technology, but it still works great for what it is. It'll work awesome with a blower.

Im running 12lbs of boost through mine unported and im able to make 473rwhp with it so i would keep it.

My pal is running one with a boosted 302 and hitting 368 rwhp and 392 ft/lbs. I am running an explorer and running low 12's with a 2.36 60'.....keep it unless you have the $$ to toss around.

I love my GT-40 intake. Old school and arguable the best looking intake made. My lower is ported... it made a little difference then stock... Looks so pretty too

Its a decent inatke, then again anything is better then our stock lowers, it will be a nice jump from stock, will work great for low end torque on mostly stock motor because of the long runners, Its a good intake for a budget build but not the best choice for a good hci setup.

Im Running the 3.33 on the blower and 7 on the crank

GT40 is a great intake. Its great for a stock engine and porting shows really good gains when more goodies can use it. I think a lot of people don't opt for it because its expensive to begin with and to be optimal you would have to port it which is another added expense. The holley seems to be a popular option for the supercharged croud.

not a ton, the heads can't handle much more flow. The $500 is better spent on gears or control arms until you're ready to head up.

Find an explorer intake for under $200 if you're still running e7's, that will make the bang for buck a little more reasonable.

lowers are the same (gt40), uppers are different. A little more restrictive, but not by enough to really make much of a difference at all.

mid to late 97-2001 don't have egr provisions, if you have to run egr, grab a 96/early 97 piece.

I love the way my GT-40 looks and at 5000 rpms with 10psi and the stock heads Im making 368 hp, and 421 tq at 4000 rpms. My problem is the stock heads bottle necking. I know that when I get better heads the intake may become the weak link, but nothing looks cooler in my opinion. Like a header for your intake.

I too am running a gt-40 on a supercharged engine, It was one of the first upgrades I did to the car and because it has worked so well for me on so many different combos I have kept it all of these years ( the good looks are a plus as well!). However with my current setup it is definatley holding me back...My point is that the gt-40 is a great all around intake and will work WELL in most situations, but it is not a standout performer especally once you hit about the 400hp mark.

BTW...I will trade my gt-40 for any interesting offers ( holley systemax, Trick flow R , or any other race parts)
