How much did you have to remove from the ats calipers to clear the nvx wheels? We just did the saleen sve 18x9/10 wheels and 13" rotor/Ats calipers on my son's 85. Everything fit really good with those wheels. I'm thinking about the nvx wheels for my 88

Thanks!

I had to take off a good amount (and it still only clears by millimeters) but not enough that I have any worries about the integrity of them.

If you do the NVX wheels for your 88 don't do the ATS setup stay with the cobra calipers

I machined the calipers on the 85 so I didn't have to use any spacers like what the S&S kit comes with. If you had to guess, did you take off a 1/16th, 1/8th, or more off the calipers? I already have all the ATS stuff for the 88 and I can always order the Saleen wheels for it...but I'm kinda hung up on those NVX wheels. I have a machine shop, so manipulating a couple mm here and there on the calipers or spindles is not a big deal. But if you thinks it's too much of a pain to deal with I'll stick with your advice. Thanks for getting back to me!

Oh with a machine shop it would be easy. I'd say I took off 3/16” towards the middle of the caliper and maybe 1/16" at the outer part of the arch.

I lightened the picture up as much as I could to try to see the clearance

Awesome. Thanks for the picture. I went ahead and ordered the Saleen wheels considering I know it will all work with the ATS setup. Nice looking ride btw. Here's the 85 we just finished up.

I know this is old, but is there any chance you could clarify where you ground down the calipers?

I just purchased these wheels

18x9 up front, but I also just got a big deal on a new powdercoated set of ATS brakes for the front with the matching Taurus rear calipers.

Veryyyyyy much appreciated.

Just confused on how these would fit.

(2002 GT if that matters)

Thanks so much.

Sorry I don't have any other pictures and I ended up not using them because I wasn't happy with the clearance, and amount I had to grind.
I went with standard cobra calipers...

Ahhhh ok. Looks like I will have to go with another option.

Did you upgrade the rears?

Not too good with brake bias, but wondering if the front cobra calipers will work with rear Taurus and be safe.

Front cobra and Taurus rears have been working perfectly for me.

If it's not a lot of trouble. Could you link me the front cobras you used with these wheels? (Only because I saw these wheels won't allow fitment of "Cobra R" and I don't want to purchase the wrong ones)

I'm going to go ahead and purchase the wheels today.

Sounds like I found my setup.

Thanks again for replying!

I'll post pics when I get there.

gkomo

now i can hopefully expect to receive the shaft

I think the Cobra “R” kit are Brembo calipers and that’s why they don’t fit? Just buy a standard Cobra kit (with PBR calipers?)

They're just standard replacement 04 Cobra calipers, parts store, rock auto, etc...
