hey guys my o/r mac h pipe rusted in the middle where it connets to make the H and i went today to a muffler shop and was quoted $10-15 if its not too rusty and all he has to do is weld it. Also gave me a quote of $25-35 if he had to put in a new piece and weld it.

my question is does that sound about right? or should I go to like advance auto parts or some other store and just get me a clamp? if so where should i get one from

a picture would be great, did the pipe break? i would get a second quote from a reputable muffler shop and get it fixed right...i don't understand if he looked at it he should be able to tell if it needs welding or replaced and give you an exact quote.i think i would go to someone else..i would not use any clamps on my stang.

It's generally been 10-15 bucks for me to get pipes welded together. The pipe is not terribly expensive, but keep in mind they probably make a little mark-up on the pipes.

Get a 2nd quote, but in the end, you're better off having it welded. It's probably worth the money to get it fixed right instead of saving $20 and clamping it only to have it most likely leak later.
