o2 extensions for LTs

I can buy either BBK or MAC, right? (does anybody know of another brand, maybe?). Can it be for 79-93 models, or it has to be for 94-95 only? (AT C-F-M I´ve found only o2 extension sets for 79-93)

Why not just extend the wires yourself? Just get some good butt splices, good electrical tape and some convoluted tubing and you'll have em exactly where you want them.

I'm extending mine with soldier and heat shrink tubing. The passenger side may not even require extending.

Do not splice the O2 harness

Extend the car's harness

The wires for the O2 are kinda unique.

I extended mine by using the solder method almost three years ago and all has been ok since then.

Ditto above. Do NOT extend the 02 sensor wires, either use extenders or extend the harness itself. And if you extend the harness, use shrink wrap and solder and try to get shrink wrap with epoxy in it. Some people swear thay have done it themselves and the car runs fine - however, we have seen a number of cars on the dyno with the 02 sensor wires themselves extended and they are always a mess and getting erroneous 02 sensor readings.

Here's why: the 02 sensors cannot magically determine the 02 content of the exhaust, they need to compare what they read in the exhaust system to something with a known 02 value. And to do this, they use free air which is about 20.946% oxygen. They get the air through the insulation of the 02 sensor wires - the insulation is specially made to deliver adequate air to the sensor body. Cutting and splicing the wires completely ruins this entire system.

So, if you have done this and tell me it runs fine, I'd have to say you are lucky - or you haven't tried to tune it yet!

I didn't have to extedend mine. I got new 02 sensors and they had a super long cord on them already. I had to sell the extenders I bought didn't need them. If you can do that I would!

I must be one of the lucky one's.... I cut mine 6" from the sensor and used butt connectors/ electrical tape/loom....that was 3 years ago....I have dyno'd few times over with no probs...Dont even get codes 0/2 related when pulled..
No way doubting what you say...makes complete sense....I would have done it that way but never seen that kinda info relayed before....
If I wasn't such a cheap ass....I'd of gotten the extensions.. cost me all of 3.00 to do mine..

As for me, if 8 or 9 times out of 10 ...... peeps have good results with something, I usually end up being the 1 or 2 kinds of those peeps that have the probs
