Odd overheating problem

I checked my radiator just because I hadn't done so for awhile and noticed it was low, like almost a half a gallon of water low. So i fill it, and since I filled it the temp gauge acts weird, it goes up then down and fluxuats wildly, and when I park it, it pukes all the coolant out.Strange thing is the low coolant light never came on before I checked it but did after I filled it

The coolant light sensor is on the end of your overflow cap and can go bad with muck on it. You prob have air in your system and need to get it out.

OK...at the risk of sounding stupid how do I get the air out of the radiator?

There is a tube connected to your cap on the overflow bottle. Just pull the cap off and out of the overflow and it is a the end of that..

NFG!!

I found the problem...I ran it just now and the temp was spiking then coming back to half then up again. Popped open the hood and the upper rad hose lookied like a waterballoon. New T-stat and upper hose, and I guess I should replace the cap

Squeeze your hoses while refilling it up and let it burp and overflow.
Glad you solved your problem might as well check your other hoses as well.

well....I thought I had the problem fixed. I put new hose and T-stat in now it's leaking like a sieve at the t-stat housing underneath. I took it apart three times and triple checked everything and it still leaks..WTF????
