Talk about an easy tear down. Besides a couple of snags nothing too major.

It is kind of funny though. Some of my head bolts weren't even all that tight. They came off really easy.

Tomorrow I am planning on cleaning up the block. Running the flex hone through it, and start putting back together. The bearings had so little wear on them you could still read the printing on them for what cap they belong to. Not to mention that but there was literally no wear on the cylinder walls. They are bright and shiney with all the x-hatches.

If I had my main studs and head gaskets right now I could probably have it back in the car next week.

Anyway here it is:

And here are the guts.

Not All I need is a spring compressor to get the rockers and lifters out of the heads. So if anyone has one I can borrow let me know.

I would definetely check it with a dial indicator. There is no way i would trust not getting the block machined for the amount of power you are gonna be putting out. You've spent so much time, effort, and money on it. I would think it best to be safe and do it right. Just my .02.

I checked with Scott at VT and with Diamond about the block. They both told me as long as the everything came out good the cylinders would only need to be deglazed. The pistons and rings are factory replacement pieces, not oversized.

Remember my car only had like 32000 Km on it. All 8 clearly have the factory cross hatches everywhere in the cylinder, top to bottom. So I am not concerned.

Literally everything in that motor was spotless. All 8 pistons came out easily. The pistons have little to no carbon on them and the tops of the cylinders didn't even have deposits on them. All the bearings are as new, no scoring or anything. I probably could have left it alone and drove it hard for anouther few years without doing any damage.

I am not going to worry about getting the whole block checked out. If it had 50000+ KM on it and driven all year round I would but the whole engine is perfect. If I was going to spend that much on the block I would have left it a lone and just bought anouther new one.

If anything happens otherwise I guess I will have no one to blame but myself. But I am quite confident about the outcome regardless.

I actually have pretty much everything ready to go back in. I am just waiting for some head gaskets.

I am going to give it anouther good bath and get ready to start filling it back up.

I didn't realize you had such low K's on it. No wonder she looked good. Mine definetely needed the machine shop. Except the bearings, my bearings were perfect too. Pistons looked worn on mine though. Good work . You're gonna have that thing together in no time!

Yeah it really surprised me too. I was expecting at least some wear or sign of abuse, but nothing. I have ran Mobil 1 since the very first oil change too.

After seeing what the inside looked like, I am definatly a believer in synthetics. As soon as I have the motor broken in I am putting Mobil 1 back in.

I am hoping to have it back alive within the next couple of weeks.
