Ok im going to do a oil change soon and mark my dipstick to see how much oil burnoff I get within my next oil-change. I was reading in a magazine and some oils burn off rate is much diffrent then others I know MOBIL1 is the best for no burnoff.

Anyways im using Castrol GTX 10w30. How much oil is normal to burn off between oil changes (how much oil for how many kms/miles?)

or should there be none? (doesnt make sence since the magazine said that some oil burns quicker then others)

Thanks everyone!

ps: iv got H/C/I if that matters

Lets face it here, if the ring lands are headed south, or the valve guides are bad, oil is going to get into the combustion chamber. If the car is using oil, it's going to get burned no matter what type of oil you use.

I can see this turning into a "What kind of oil do you use" thread very quicky....

It seems that almost everyone that has an aftermarket intake uses oil from what I've read and discovered myself. Through changing my driving style (gearing down less) my oil consumption has reduced greatly. A lot of oil is sucked up through the PCV valve and into the intake.
I just had a dynotune done and in one day I used up almost 1/2 a litre. This was due to the gearing down done on the dyno. It had to be because I had about 700 km's on the car since last oil change and it had barely moved on the dipstick until this one particular day on the dyno. I even noticed a little oil inside my filler neck and I have a baffled grommet in there. It had to be the gearing down on the dyno that caused this due to vacuum being created.

I've checked my compression and all is good there.

mobil 1 full synthetic.

Mine burns 1 qt between oil changes I use the same oil as you. Mine has always used 1 qt between changes ever since I had the car, just normal use for it I guess.
