Oink, just curious how your TT buildup is going ... you had a thread about it before the crash, and I haven't heard anything about it since.

Here's the tech question:

with the TIAL WG you are putting on mine, will I be able to keep the boost at 8psi?

If I'm not mistaken, the tial wastegates have interchangeable springs in them so you can change the maximum boost.

Shoot, I don't have any recent pics of the headers I built, but thats basically the whole setup. The downpipes will sit under the headers and are just real simple 3" straight pipes going back to the factory H pipe location. I did this so I can simply bolt up an H pipe without modification.

The headers could have turned out nicer, because im a perfectionist, but Im just surprised I actually made a set of headers from scratch. After looking at them, they could have been done much easier using less J bends.. But oh well. Next time, next time!

Anyhow, after Im done with BlackVerts setup I can bolt the headers and turbos back on, and snap a few pics.. But for now getting his setup done is #1. ( which should be done shortly)

BTW, Blackvert.. Ive actually had the car down to 5psi at one time, bleeding off the vacuum to the gate ( vacuum line hooked directly to bottom wastegate port).. With a controller hooked up, that for some reasion didnt work right, I was able to keep a steady 9-10psi.

I recomend you pick up one of those ball spring controllers off Ebay for $10-15 bucks. just do a search for MBC, or manual boost controller.

BTW, do you still have the smog setup and cats? Or an aftermarket Mid pipe?

my job was supposed to be #2 ... after you were done with your setup...

looks great tho. maybe doing mine gave you some time to think about yours and you will end up with a better setup as a result ...

they way you did that is wonderful, everything is symmetric... how'd you think of the "better" way of doing it? coming straight into the hotside w/o the last 90* turn and just getting one 90* after the turbo?

anyways, looks sweet, you could have a business on the side... fabbing these thigns

Yea I painted the otherwise dull looking silver helmet with a custom mixed color I made of scrap paints we had in the garage.. Turned out neat!

lol, my whole body is basically tan from this welder! Not good at all I know, but sometimes I'm too lazy to go in the house and throw on a longsleeve shirt. Other times, it'l be late night after watching tv and relaxing, and I'll feel like going to work in the garage in my boxers.. Bet not too many folks weld in there boxers eh!

anyhow, yea I think I will make turbo setups on the side, for extra cash..
The way I have BlackVerts setup going, it looks great and will be basically a bolt on part. Im charging $550 for the complete hotside which includes headers with V band conections, 2.5" crossover, wastegate flanges welded up, 3" downpipe with V band conection, 02 bungs welded in, and a setup that allows ac and ps to stay in tact. And not something that looks like a pile with bird shi* welds.. Everything will be nicely TIG welded with as smooth as possible transistions in the pipe routing.

i assume i get a cut of the profits since i was the one who gave you the idea, right?

but seriously, i'd like to get into putting turbo setups together for people also, but the time and equipment is just not available right now. maybe after the kids grow up and i get my life back, i'll be able to make some of the ideas i have a reality ...

yes, i still have all the smog stuff (egr, smog pump, cats) and a stock h-pipe. will i need to delete anything? i'm ok with deleting smog and egr, but we have emissions inspections every 2 years here in md, so i'd have about 2 years to figure out how to pass the next one.

Well as with all turbo systems ( that I know of) you have to delete the smog pump and tuck ( and plug) the vaccum lines in the inner fender. You shouldnt have to delete the EGR, simply cap it off with the fitting I will supply, and with the Tweecer, select "2" for EGR system type.. I believe its the #2 that shuts the EGR funtions off ( check into that though)
Its very simple.

It shouldnt take too long to install the turbo setup, so I for see it being a problem to swap the stock midpipe and smog stuff back on in time for your bi yearly inspection.
